Chapter 274: Ch 274: Goddess Astoria’s Plan

"Sir, Goddess Astoria has come to see you. What should we tell her? Should we let her inside? Or tell her that you are busy?"

Loki’s amused eyes looked at this subordinate. The poor subordinate was shaking, knowing very well that it could be his last day depending on what his master told him to do.

Goddess Astoria had a temper, and she took it out on other gods’ servants as well as her own. But since she was a goddess, no one wanted to risk fighting her over a mere servant. But they did hold their servants’ deaths over her head and demanded a price from her.

In the end, the ones who became casualties were the servants while the gods played these games.

And still, the servants could not leave their gods’ side because these gods were their lifeline.

The servant looked at Loki, waiting to see what his fate would be like in a few minutes. And Loki quickly made his decision.

"Huh-! My dear sister is here? Then I should come out and greet her myself. It won’t be right to let her stand outside for too long. Come, let’s greet Astoria together."

Loki was one of the benevolent gods who seemed to care for his servants on the surface. That was why the servants under him respected him.

They were all aware that his show of care was for his own purpose and he would abandon them all if it meant achieving his goal, but they were all content for now.

They walked outside into the waiting room where Goddess Astoria had already made herself comfortable. The poor servant she was harassing looked pale and lifeless. But her eyes shone as soon as she noticed that Loki was here.

"My dear sister, what brings you here? I was not aware that you were about to pay me a visit. Had I known, I would have made even more arrangements for your comfort-"

"Stop yapping and sit down. It’s time we talk about things and you give me my possession back."

Goddess Astoria was in a volatile mood, and her eyes were shining with annoyance. She was not going to back down, and that made Loki alert against her.

Sparks flew between the two gods as they looked at each other. No one was willing to back down, and that caused the rift to widen.

Finally, Loki was the first to look away. He was not surrendering, but he was offering his sister an olive branch so that his side would not suffer too many losses.

"I would like to help you out as well, dear sister. But I am afraid that would be a little difficult. You see, the reason I sent our dear brother into my world was because that was what father decided. And as much as I would like to help you, I cannot disobey his command."

Loki pinned all the blame on their father, and he was not lying. Their father had told him to do this, so Loki had complied.

"Father...asked you to interfere? That entity that could not care less if we all slaughtered each other mercilessly...asked you to interfere? Is this some kind of joke?"

Astoria asked, but Loki sighed and shook his head.

"You are free to think whatever you want about this. But even you know that I cannot go against my father’s wishes, no matter what. So, this is my answer. I will not be able to help you because father does not want me to."

Astoria looked like she was about to blow up, and Loki got ready to attack her back.

But the attack never came.

Goddess Astoria’s expression closed off like a stranger, and Loki had an even worse feeling about her silence.

"Sister, what are you planning on doing? I am warning you beforehand. Don’t you dare cause trouble in my domain."

Loki could tolerate a lot, but even he was not going to tolerate all his hard work being scrapped just because his sister would not hold herself back.

But Astoria smiled back at him in a way that creeped him out.

"Don’t worry. I am not going to do anything major. I just want to participate in the game you are playing as well. I promise I will leave your world intact."

’Ugh, this is not good. If she’s saying this, then this means she has already interfered with my world and is just letting me know later. What a hassle.’

Inside his mind, Loki was angry, annoyed, and disappointed. But none of it showed on his face, and he smiled back at Astoria.

"I see. I will allow you entry into my world then. But remember, if you cause trouble, then I will throw you out."

Astoria just smiled her same creepy smile.

"Oh-! It will be all fine. Just you wait and see. I promise you that by the end of all this, you will be glad you took my side."

Loki watched her leave with a strained smile on his face. The others around him looked just as tense as he was.

The air only returned to normal once the goddess was gone, and the servants he had saved finally stepped forward with a frown on their faces.

"Sir Loki, are you sure you want to allow Lady Astoria to do whatever she wants in your domain? I, for one, don’t think it’s a good idea-"

"We don’t have a choice. If I deny her, then she would just rampage around that world and destroy it anyway. Whatever I do, I can no longer make sure my dear world will not be harmed. So, it seems like it’s time for me to choose my side as well."

Astoria was too arrogant and foolish. She was starting a war she had no right starting.

But this time, Loki would not sit back. If he lost his world, he would make sure to pay Astoria back. And he knew that he was not the only one.

"Tsk, we all should have killed Astoria during the last war itself. Showing her mercy was a mistake."
