Chapter 247: Ch 247: The Hero is here

The teacher looked crushed by Kaiden’s words. But that expression did not last long before she blinked and came to another conclusion.

"I see. Is it hard to raise a kid like Rin alone in the city now that your wife is dead? If so, then I can act as a stable presence in your son’s life-"

"Who said my wife is dead? My wife is alive and waiting for me. Soon, I will bring my wife back to my side."

The teacher blinked at Kaiden ocne more in shock. She tried to warp her head around what she had just heard. But honestly, most of it did not make sense to her.

She could not understand who would leave such a perfect husband and son in the first place? If it was her, then she would have stayed, no matter how weak the guiding...

’Ah, maybe that was the case. Maybe Sir Kaiden’s wife was a normal human and she could not handle how an esper was dependent on a guide...’

The relationship between an esper and a guide was something that normal people could not even imagine having. It was not only relance but also dependency.

In many cases, feelings even developed between the pair and they bonded, causing the esper to become numb to anyone else’s feelings.

That was a risk every relationship with an esper tended to have and that’s why most normal people were not able to date an esper.

’Maybe Sir Kaiden’s wife was the same. She might not have been able to accept that her husband would, one day, become someone else’s partner and place them in a more important place. I suddenly feel sorry for her and Sir Kaiden as well.’

But this was an opportunty for the teacher to try her luck. The seat beside Sir Kaiden was empty and she could occupy it.

After all, as an esper, she was better suited to understand Sir Kaiden’s longing and dependency on a guide.

"Sir Kaiden, it must be hard for you to live like this all the time. But you don’t have to worry about the attention of someone who does not even understand you. If you open your eyes, I am sure you would see that there are other fishes out in the sea-"

Something shifted in the air. One second, the teacher was perfectly fine and the next, she was falling down on her knees.

Breathing had suddenly become hard and she tried to grab on to something but failed.

"Miss, you seem to be sick. I don’t think you should be out here at the moment. Should I call for someone to come and help you out?"

Kaiden asked with a smile but the female teacher was not able to react.

Her instincts told her that she had made a mistake, but she was not able to guess what that mistake was.

’W-What did I do wrong? Was it the way I spoke...? Or the words...?’

The teacher wanted to ask a question. But unfortunately, her eyes rolled into the back of her head and she went to sleep.

Caelis and Kaiden watched the teacher collapse, but they did not move to help her out. Caelis even sighed as he looked at the teacher’s collapsed body before he poked her.

"Oh my-! This seems to be serious. Should we call for a doctor or such?"

He asked in a sarcastic voice and Kaiden sighs at his son.

"Leave her be. Someone will come to help her out and chances are that she won’t recall what happened here. There is no point in fanning the flames when we don’t need to."

Kaiden pointed out and Caelis sighed before he pulled himself away from the unconscious body.

"Ah, that reminds me...what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be working on tracking down Shuu and bringing him back?"

Caelis asked in a look at his father and Kaiden gave him an over dramatic sigh.

"Don’t be like that, son. I can come and pick you up sometimes as well. I am sure Shuu would be happy if I tell him about it later."

Kaiden replief back and Caelis was not even surprised at his father’s words. His father might be acting like a doting person, but in the end, it was all for Shuu’s sake. His father was trying to earn some brownie points before Shuu came back.

"Sure...let’s just go with that. So, did you have any success in finding Shuu?"

Caelis asked and Kaiden nodded.

"I do have some clues. But I need to take care of a small problem before I can go and investigate it. And that’s why I came to get you. We are going to a dungeon break next."

Caelis let out a startled sigh but did not complain. He was itching for a fight as well, so a dungeon break was the perfect place to let loose.

"Alright, let’s get going now. The sooner we deal with this dungeon break, the sooner we can go back to try and find Shuu."

They quickly left the academy, not even caring that they were leaving an unconscious teacher behind.

The alley where the dungeon break happened was a small one. Other espers had already started to gather and perform preventive measures. But all of them werr struggling with the nearby monsters.

"S-Sir Kaiden is here..."

Someone suddenly noticed him and let out a sigh of relief. That caused others to become relieved as well and the tense atmosphere changed in an instant.

Kaiden did not like how these people behaved when he was nearby, but he knew he needed to maintain his calm if he wanted to find Shuu safe and sound.

"Sir, you can take care of this dungeon and go as wild as you want to. We have people on stand-by for you, waiting to assist you no matter what. We also have guides ready for you." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

The person incharge explained but Kaiden had no interest in any of it. Especially not the guide.

"I won’t need anyone, so you can send them all back for now and clear out this area."
