The instructor is a person from the local transportation system, but this deputy battalion commander in front of us is different; he is a cadre under the Ministry of Transport!

Deputy Minister Yuan was very pleased, warmly shaking Old Wu’s hand and exclaimed, "Comrade Hai Li, the responsibility of waterway traffic management is significant, and as the deputy battalion commander and second company commander of the reserve camp, the responsibility in the reserve forces is equally vital. You are shouldering two heavy responsibilities!"

"Reporting to Minister Yuan, I will fulfill my duties well while also serving in the reserves, taking on the reserve role as a responsibility, and never bringing shame to our maritime sector."

"Minister Yuan, this is the instructor of our second company, Comrade Chen Xueshan. Comrade Chen Xueshan is from the Binjiang Navigation Section of the Yangtze River Navigation Bureau."

There are people from the maritime bureau, the waterway bureau, the Yangtze Communication Bureau, and the Changhang Police Bureau, and quite a number of them, all righteous and genuine children of the transportation sector!

Looking at the resolute faces, recalling the reports about the Linghai Reserve Camp’s fight against floods in Jingjiang, Deputy Minister Yuan was filled with emotions.

"Comrades, as early as two years ago, I have seen reports about you multiple times. Ten Thousand Miles of the Yangtze River, the danger lies in Jingjiang! During the critical moment when the Jingjiang water level surged and the Jingjiang Embankment was in jeopardy, you rushed to Jingjiang for flood fighting and rescue, fearless and steadfastly defending, repelling wave after wave of flood peaks and excellently completing the tasks assigned by the higher authorities. Through your actions, you have demonstrated what is called the symbiotic relationship between the military and the civilians and showcased the style of the transportation people in the new era!"

Deputy Minister Yuan surveyed the crowd, speaking very seriously and sincerely, "You are the pride of our transportation system. I clearly remember when I saw the news reports of your flood fighting and rescue efforts; all the members of our ministry’s committee felt so proud. Here, on behalf of the transport ministry committee, I extend my heartfelt thanks and highest respect to you..."

A warm applause erupted, lasting for a long time.

With such high praise from the ministry leadership, not only were Wu Hai Li, Hu Genhua, Ge Cunhua, and Xiao Yu, the reserve soldiers of the transportation system, excited, but even those like Director Xu from the maritime bureau and Director Qi from the Changhang Bureau felt honored.

The second agenda item was visiting the Linghai Reserve Honor Room.

Han Xiangning’s military uniform was already in the camp, and he had quietly put it on, just as before when leaders came to visit, he was responsible for the explanation, with the first camp commander Han Yu and the current camp commander Yang Jianbo providing supplements.

Rather than calling it an honor room, it’s more of a whole-floor exhibition hall.

Entering from the west door, the first thing you see is the time-honored and glorious history of the Linghai Reserve Camp!

The predecessor was an independent regiment of the Jiaodong Military Region, with photos, textual introductions, and even physical evidence. The honor flags of the "Heroic Assault Battalion" and "Red Saber Battalion" were taken from the Binjiang Reserve Group when the new camp area was established.

As for the martyr’s bloodstained clothing, old crank handle telephones, radios, rusted rifles, broadswords, spears, and other red relics displayed in the glass case, they were "borrowed" from the neighboring Martyr’s Cemetery and do not need to be returned.

The second exhibit area showcases the formation and construction process of the Linghai Reserve Camp. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

There are photos of Deputy Commander Tao of the Jiangnan Army Reserve Division coming for inspection, photos of officers and soldiers becoming self-reliant, working hard to design and retrofit equipment such as the "Water Factory Ship" themselves under the condition of insufficient funding, as well as photos of officers and soldiers taking turns in military training and political learning.

The third exhibit is the focal point, entirely about flood fighting and rescue.

There are not only pictures and physical objects but also video players and large color TVs showing breathtaking footage of the Linghai Reserve Camp’s flood fighting and rescue efforts.

The video footage being played has never been on the news, and Deputy Minister Yuan paused to watch.

Han Yu clearly noticed that while Deputy Minister Yuan was watching, tears welled up in his eyes.

Secretary Lu took out tissues to wipe his eyes and whispered, "Minister Yuan, I’ve seen this video, and not just once. Although I’ve seen it many times, each time I watch it, I’m filled with tears. Comrades are all commendable, being both the pride of the transportation system and our pride in Binjiang."
