Chapter 2064 - 2065: Go Ask Michelle
Charley wasn’t born into some rich, powerful family, and he wasn’t the son of a big boss either, not some heir taking over his father’s business.
The position he has today is entirely fought out with his own hands, every step of the way taken by trampling over other people’s corpses.
Now his son is dead, killed by Ye Xunhuan, and he’s furious inside, but he also knows that no matter how angry he is, he has to swallow it. Otherwise, the one who dies won’t just be a single son, even he himself will be finished.
If he’s finished, then his former enemies definitely won’t spare his other children.
So even though Ye Xunhuan killed Barry, and even gave him orders, he still has to obey.
After a lifetime, he understands very well that there are some people who, even if they slap you in the face, you still have to suck up with a smile and call them grandpa.
Doing this doesn’t mean he has no backbone, and it doesn’t mean he’s so magnanimous he can really let go of everything.
He’s doing it just to stay alive—for his own life, and so that the rest of his family can live too.
Ye Xunhuan left, taking Qiu Ruoxi away from there.
After Ye Xunhuan and Qiu Ruoxi left, he slowly climbed up from the floor, spat out a stuffy breath from his mouth, then took a deep inhale. His face was full of helplessness and bitterness.
Ye Xunhuan was too powerful, and with Qiu Ruoxi wearing the Devil King’s bracelet, that meant Qiu Ruoxi was basically their number two master!
He had absolutely no way to resist.
The next moment, Charley slowly set his gaze on the men he’d brought with him. "Today you didn’t see anything, and your arms were chopped off by somebody else!"
No one dared question Charley’s words. Even though they had witnessed Charley kneeling to Ye Xunhuan and Qiu Ruoxi, they still didn’t dare to question him.
As he spoke, Charley’s gaze fell on Barry’s group of scumbag buddies. "Throw all of them into the sea to feed the fish!"
......
After Ye Xunhuan and Qiu Ruoxi left the bar, they went straight back to the hotel.
Only on the way back, Qiu Ruoxi was a bit sullen; clearly everything that had just happened directly ruined the good mood she’d been in.
Not just Qiu Ruoxi—swap in any other woman, running into something like this, they probably wouldn’t be happy or cheerful either.
Ye Xunhuan could tell at a glance that Qiu Ruoxi was in a bad mood, and said softly, "Wife, I originally wanted to take you out for some fun, it’s just that..."
As he spoke, an apologetic look slowly surfaced on Ye Xunhuan’s face.
Seeing this, Qiu Ruoxi immediately said, "It’s fine. I just want to know—what did you say to him?"
"Nothing much." Ye Xunhuan said casually, "Just asked him to help me find someone here. I only gave him two or three days. Might be a bit tough for him."
Qiu Ruoxi gave a soft "oh," and didn’t ask any more.
After Ye Xunhuan and Qiu Ruoxi got back to the hotel, they didn’t go looking for Qianhuan Liuyun. After all, it was already late; for all they knew, Qianhuan Liuyun was already resting.
And Qianhuan Liuyun knew Ye Xunhuan and Qiu Ruoxi had gone out together.
Back at the hotel, Qiu Ruoxi rested for a bit, then went to take a shower, while Ye Xunhuan slowly walked over to the floor‑to‑ceiling window, lit a cigarette, and dialed Olivia’s number.
The call was quickly connected. Before Ye Xunhuan could speak, Olivia’s pleasant voice traveled through the receiver into his ear.
"How come I suddenly realized you’ve been contacting me more and more often lately?"
"That just shows I care more and more about you." Ye Xunhuan didn’t hesitate in the slightest and went straight on, "And you’re already at that age—might keel over any day now—so someone ought to care about you properly..."
On the other end, Olivia had just shown a hint of a smile, but the second half of Ye Xunhuan’s sentence made her face turn as ugly as if she’d just swallowed a fly.
"Bastard, you’re the one who’s ’at that age’! I’m telling you, converted to your human years, I’d be at most thirty..."
"Problem is, you can’t calculate it using our years." Ye Xunhuan said blandly. "You’re already an old crone..."
"You son of a bitch, next time I see you I’m definitely going to teach you a good lesson, make you understand why the flowers are so damn red!" Olivia gritted out, sounding extremely pissed.
Ye Xunhuan chuckled. "Alright, I’ll stop messing with you. Time to talk business."
"Spit it out if you’ve got something to say, fart it out if you’ve got something to fart." Olivia said crudely.
She’d actually been in a pretty good mood today, but Ye Xunhuan’s call, plus a few lines of his nonsense, completely ruined it.
"Did you read the email I had Victoria send you?"
Ye Xunhuan hadn’t contacted Olivia directly to tell her about the Tzimisce clan; he had Victoria pass the information on to Olivia instead.
"I saw it." Olivia said coldly. "The Tzimisce clan has shown up. I’ve already made preparations to deal with them."
"But don’t you dare be screwing with me over this. There’s no room for jokes on this matter." Olivia’s voice gradually turned more serious.
"I still know where the line is." Ye Xunhuan said softly. "I fought them, and they’re really hard to kill."
As he spoke, the scene in the villa flashed through Ye Xunhuan’s mind. That vampire had been damn near impossible to finish off.
"Under the Butcher Blade, they can be taken care of easily." Olivia said with open disdain.
Although the Butcher Blade is one of the thirteen Holy Artifacts of the blood clan, it’s also the blood clan’s blade of judgment. The Butcher Blade can easily slaughter any vampire.
"If that’s the case, then good." Ye Xunhuan said mildly. "But Olivia, I still feel this matter isn’t that simple. There’s definitely an invisible hand behind the scenes pushing everything along."
"What did you discover?"
Given how well she knew Ye Xunhuan, if he didn’t have some kind of evidence, he would never say something like that.
Ye Xunhuan pondered for a moment, then said, "I suspect the head of the Soviets, Jim, has a problem. Are you familiar with this Jim?"
"Come on, he’s with the Soviets, I’m from the underground world. You think we’d be close?" Olivia sounded quite exasperated. "And that Jim seems to be a follower of the Church. Why don’t you ask that little lover of yours, Saintess Michelle? Maybe she knows something."
"Michelle?" Ye Xunhuan’s voice rose slightly.
Speaking of Michelle, ever since they parted in Miao territory, Ye Xunhuan really hadn’t seen her again. If Olivia hadn’t brought her up, he would’ve already forgotten about her.
If Michelle found out that Ye Xunhuan had long since tossed her to the back of his mind, would she want to kill him?
