Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead
Chapter 665 - 306: Curse Mark_2
The small library had only been devoured by thirty percent, yet it was already capable of being overlooked, along with any memories associated with it.
If the small library were completely consumed by the white worms, both its space and its presence in people’s memories would likely vanish entirely.
The intelligence from Hou Jingchuan only mentioned that the Curse Mark could attract monsters to attack players without shelter at night.
Monsters refreshing during the day and targeting buildings specifically hadn’t been encountered by the Four Major Organizations who have monopolized the Cursed Dungeon for so long.
It seems we’ve stumbled upon a hidden plotline. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Wu Chang was unsure whether the current situation was related to Amber’s anomaly, but the appearance of white worms that devour presence is definitely not a good sign.
Seeing no one around, he gestured with his hand, unfolding the Blind Abyss, and tossed all the white worms on the small library into it.
Worms do not breathe and cannot escape the Blind Abyss, drowning within a few minutes.
An A-Level skill truly lives up to its ranking; with other powers, it wouldn’t be this easy to clear away hundreds of white worms.
Despite the white worms’ death, the Curse Mark surrounding the small library didn’t disappear, indicating that the monsters weren’t completely cleared.
He walked into the small library and indeed saw a massive worm three meters tall and five meters long, lying in the center of the library hall. Its size signified it as the king of the worm swarm.
The existence of the white Insect King was so strong that upon entering the library, its presence dominated all vision.
Such a striking aura, even without relying on the external worm swarm, meant that even centipede puppets would not necessarily be its match.
If other players had been present today, even core players like Booker from the Four Major Organizations, they would not dare engage it head-on due to the difference in strength.
Unfortunately for it, it encountered Wu Chang.
According to the intelligence recorded by the Four Major Organizations, once targeted by a monster in the dungeon, even a group of players working together would struggle to prevail.
If a monster were encountered alone, like Parker being ambushed by a thousand eyes, even a max-level player would likely meet their demise.
At this moment, however, the white Insect King was more helpless than those solitary players targeted by monsters.
The grand Insect King had no time to react before a puddle accumulated beneath it, and the next moment it fell into the Blind Abyss.
Wu Chang didn’t even bother entering the Blind Abyss himself; he merely added a bit of Deep Water Bite into it, rendering the Insect King’s struggles futile.
As the white worm family gathered neatly at the seabed, the black thorns surrounding the small library shattered, restoring the vanished presence.
The familiar small library reappeared in sight, and the teacher, who was about to return to the classroom, slapped his forehead, remembering that he came to return a book, and turned back to the library.
Muttering to himself, "Getting old, how can I forget things so easily."
When entering, he bumped into the departing Wu Chang, and they exchanged greetings.
The appearance of the white worms sparked a huge sense of crisis in Wu Chang. He spent the entire day patrolling the campus, ensuring no corners were hiding monsters nibbling at Nokes Primary School.
The good news was that aside from the Curse Mark encountered at the small library, the rest of the day was calm, with no further monster appearances on campus.
The bad news was that after school, when he took Amber and Erin back to 26 Garden Street, he found his attic shrouded in a faint black mist.
What does this mean, are you planning to jump out directly?
Wu Chang looked at Amber without revealing his emotions, noticing that although Amber feigned calmness, her gaze lingered on the attic an extra second before getting out of the car.
She couldn’t see the Curse Mark on her arm, but she could see the anomaly on the attic, which wasn’t any good news.
He would rather Amber see nothing than have her think it was her fault bringing disaster to the home.
After dinner, Wu Chang refused Amber’s request to sleep alone in the attic, asking Erin to take her to the bedroom to rest early.
He stayed in the attic himself, wanting to see which unseeing creature would come copping its head.
Time flew to late night, and he heard the sound of police sirens on the street outside.
Through the perspective of True Self, he understood the chaos outside was caused by Lin Jiang’s associate, the leader of the Iron Armor Corps, Dragon Armor.
Upon entering the city, he exposed his tracks, discovered by Colton through cameras, who dispatched officers to pursue him.
Since Dragon Armor was already a wanted criminal involved in egregious incidents, and due to the large-scale murder case on Romance Street, the Sigef City police were under constant media pressure.
Thus, upon Dragon Armor’s appearance, a high-profile capture operation was initiated, with police cars, armored vehicles, and armed helicopters all being dispatched.
Dragon Armor fled, and the police pursued.
Amidst the chase, the battlefield extended all the way to Milan Street, next to Garden Street.
Finding the armed helicopter overhead overly annoying, Dragon Armor revealed his monstrous form, conjuring three Energy Spears and hurling them into the sky.
The spears pierced through the cockpit from below, killing the pilot and two soldiers inside the cabin instantly, causing the helicopter to lose control and crash towards the ground.
The crash site, coincidentally, was precisely on 26 Garden Street.
Witnessing the massive armed helicopter falling from the sky, Wu Chang was dumbfounded, a string of question marks written across his face.
Come on, seriously?
The Power accumulated from the Sea Giant devouring resentment resided in the True Self’s body; even after transforming into the Sea Giant, his body’s Strength Attribute was limited and unable to withstand a behemoth weighing over ten tons descending from the sky.
Fortunately, he wasn’t the only one in the house who could fight.
Erin, who was soothing Amber to sleep, sensed the anomaly above and immediately manifested her True Divine Body.
Two enormous light wings extended from both sides of the house, gathering upward to form an arc-shaped barrier, blocking the falling armed helicopter.
The light wings of the True Divine Body possess the softness of true wings, gently and silently catching the armed helicopter, undisturbing Amber in her sleep.
The wings dragged the helicopter onto the lawn, then retracted back into the room, as if nothing had happened.
As the armed helicopter landed safely, the Curse Mark surrounding the attic shattered.
Wu Chang in the attic exhaled a sigh of relief. Originally intending to guard the attic to prevent Amber from feeling guilty over house damage, he almost ended up in disaster.
This attic, despite once housing the luminescent fungi that brought Amber sad memories, held many of Amber’s recollections; if it turned to ruins by the next morning, who knows how upset she would be.
Luckily, Erin was there, saving the day.
Dragon Armor, Lin Jiang, you truly deserve to die.
He must accelerate operations on the True Self’s side, take control of Sigef City, and unleash a heavy blow on them.
He would ensure these guys couldn’t last an hour in Sigef City.
In the White Old K warehouse, True Self was in a meeting with several officers.
Miles had just finished reporting on recent work, and it was Negotiation Master’s turn. Wu Chang interrupted before she could speak:
"Regarding those three who explicitly refused to support my run for mayor when previously testing the waters, how have you dealt with them?"
Those three council members were local aristocrats of Sigef City, frequenting high-end venues where White Old K members couldn’t easily act, so Wu Chang had assigned the task to several players.
Negotiation Master took charge of handling two, while Veronica chose one.
The target chosen by Veronica had already suffered a car accident under her abilities the previous night, with the vehicle losing control and crashing into the sea.
However, two days had passed, and Negotiation Master’s side showed no progress, with the two targets still fussing around, questioning if putting out fires was divinely inspired.
Wu Chang initially wasn’t anxious, but the changes on Amber’s side pressed him to expedite the mayoral election, forcing him to urge action.
Negotiation Master sensed Wu Chang’s urgency, yet she showed no guilt typical of mission failure, instead appearing confident and asserting they had something big planned.
She said, "Boss, my visit this time is because we have brought in a special helper for this mission, serving as our secret weapon, persistently working towards accomplishing the task without slacking off."
"By tonight’s end, there will be answers."
Wu Chang raised an eyebrow, interpreting that Negotiation Master meant the player spearheading the operation was the Management Bureau’s secret weapon, nearing success.
The prospect excited him with curiosity about the secret weapon, wondering who it could be, and if he had ever encountered them.
The Henderson Building, the most luxurious office building in Sigef City, bar none.
Senator Henderson had just finished showing his beloved youngest son, young Henderson, around his building, preparing to return to his villa for a fifth birthday party.
From afar at the Henderson Building, a young girl positioned before an easel gazed distantly at the father and son, murmuring to herself:
"Love, I see love."
