Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 131: And This Is the Male Lead?
Qin Jiao’s mind wandered. ’After the car accident, I opened my eyes and found myself more than ten years in the past. But what about Shen Yi?’
Maybe it was because she had spent so much time with the present-day Shen Yi, but Qin Jiao sincerely hoped that he had survived that car crash.
Soon, the two of them arrived at school. Their journey by bike had been seen by many other students.
Lin Nian heard about it through the grapevine from other students. She knew Sun Guotao wasn’t one to meddle in such matters, so she didn’t say anything to him. Instead, she quietly whispered to her deskmate, Meng Lanlan, "Did you hear? This morning, Qin Jiao gave Shen Yi a ride to school on her bike."
"Really?"
"If you don’t believe me, go ask around. Lots of people saw it."
Meng Lanlan propped her chin on her hand and thought for a moment. "People were saying before that those two are dating. But if they’re really dating, shouldn’t Shen Yi be the one giving Qin Jiao a ride?"
The corner of Lin Nian’s mouth twitched. She couldn’t believe Meng Lanlan was so obtuse. ’Her train of thought is just bizarre!’
Just then, the English teacher walked in, so they stopped talking and prepared for class.
Of course, Qin Jiao had brought water for Shen Yi again. Ever since her rebirth, she had made sure her family, including her aunt Qin Na, drank Spiritual Spring Water every day. She also added some to the steamed buns her parents made.
The buns made this way were much tastier than anyone else’s.
Besides her own family, there were also the old man and the young boy living next door. Qin Jiao genuinely hoped that Grandpa Du would live for many more years than he had in her previous life.
As for Shen Yi... Qin Jiao hoped he would score higher than Chen Feng on the college entrance exam, become a more exceptional person in the future, and, of course, treat Grandpa Du well.
Shen Yi had intentionally caught a cold in the first place. He had a strong constitution and had taken medicine, so by the time school was let out, he was almost completely recovered.
With the third monthly exam just around the corner, Shen Yi didn’t want to waste any time. Aside from dealing with his family matters, he was truly determined to get a good score this time.
Qin Jiao’s grades were already so good. If he wanted to get into the same university as her, his only option was to push himself and study hard.
In those days, it was very difficult to get into a prestigious university. The number of admissions each year was also quite small. In fact, the vast majority of students failed to get in. It was no exaggeration to describe it as an army of thousands trying to cross a single-plank bridge.
And Shen Yi was aiming high: he wanted to remain classmates with Qin Jiao.
When Qin Jiao saw him studying so earnestly, she felt relieved and turned her focus back to grinding through practice exams.
In contrast to their calm diligence, the other pair was not nearly as composed. Lin Nian was doing okay, but as for Chen Feng, every time he closed his eyes, he thought of those photos.
His mother had been working the night shift. Chen Feng had since put those photos away, not daring to show them to her again.
He felt deeply uneasy, as if two little figures were having a tug-of-war inside his head.
One little figure said, ’Don’t listen to their nonsense. Mom is such a good person; how could she ever do something like that?’
But the other retorted, ’They were hugging, and they looked so worked up. You really think nothing was going on?’
In this state, Chen Feng found it genuinely difficult to concentrate on his studies.
Chen Feng’s poor state of mind was making Lin Nian anxious, too. Deep down, she was a little disappointed in him. ’It’s not that big of a deal. Does he really need to agonize over it this much?!’
’This is the guy who’s supposed to be the male lead?’
Though she felt contemptuous on the inside, on the surface, Lin Nian treated Chen Feng with nothing but gentleness. She did her best to soothe him, telling him not to overthink things and that their priority right now was to study hard and get into a prestigious university.
