Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife
Chapter 125: A Typical Case of Forgetting the Pain
Qin Jiqun and Feng Lan exchanged a glance. Finally, he turned to Qin Na. "Qin Na, I’m your own brother. You wouldn’t really send your brother to the police station over a watch, would you?"
Qin Na bit her lip. From behind, Qin Jiao gave her a little push, and she suddenly spoke up. "Of course I don’t want that to happen. But this watch is just too expensive, and I was buying it for someone else. If you don’t pay for it, I’ll have to, and I can’t afford it at all."
Su Yun chimed in from the side. "Exactly. You two don’t know how hard things have been for Qin Na recently. She hasn’t saved up much money at all. And you said it yourselves—we’re all family. You can’t just stand by and watch her suffer, can you?"
Weren’t they the ones who brought up being family?
She was throwing their own words right back at them.
Qin Jiqun and Feng Lan were completely out of options. In the end, Qin Jiqun spoke up sheepishly, "So, how much was the watch?"
Qin Na immediately said, "Ten dollars!" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Qin Jiqun actually had the money on him; he had brought twenty dollars with him. But he really didn’t want to part with it.
He had originally planned to wander around the county town and buy something fun.
But now, they were genuinely scared. What if this really did end up at the police station?
In the end, they had no choice but to grit their teeth and give the ten dollars to Qin Na.
Meanwhile, Feng Lan sat on the sofa, holding her son and quickly giving him an apple to eat. She cooed in a low voice, "It’s okay, Xiao Tao. Don’t cry, don’t cry."
"Mom, I want braised pork!" Xiao Tao couldn’t care less about the money they just paid. He whispered, "I saw lots of meat in Second Aunt’s kitchen!"
He was the type to only remember food, not scoldings. He had already put the earlier incident completely out of his mind.
As for the food, Su Yun didn’t object. "That’s the meat filling for tomorrow’s buns," she said. "If you want to eat now, I can make you some boiled dumplings, but you can’t have too many. It’s not good for a child’s digestion."
Feng Lan didn’t give it a second thought. "Just make a big batch, Sister-in-law," she said immediately. "We’re hungry too. After we eat, we can just go to bed a little later."
At that moment, Qin Jiao suddenly spoke up. "Aunt, are you planning to stay at our house? We don’t have any extra room, so you’ll have to sleep on the floor in the living room. Besides, this house belongs to someone else. You’d better make sure Xiao Tao behaves. If he breaks anything, you’ll have to pay for it."
Feng Lan’s expression changed.
Qin Bogang felt he had to say something. After all, he was the eldest brother.
He announced, "If there’s no room here, you can stay at my place."
Qin Jiqun and Feng Lan exchanged a look.
Qin Jiao, however, was exasperated with her uncle. "You have plenty of valuable things at your house too, don’t you, Uncle? Uncle, Aunt, you’ll still have to keep a close eye on Xiao Tao."
Qin Jiao knew her aunt was a good person; if her other uncle’s family went to stay, she would be furious. So Qin Jiao dropped a hint to remind her uncle.
Unfortunately, Qin Bogang was stubborn and completely missed Qin Jiao’s good intentions. He even gave her a reproachful look, thinking she was being insolent. Finally, his gaze fell on his quiet second brother.
He said, "My place may not be as big as Second Brother’s, but there’s definitely enough room for you!"
In truth, Qin Bogang was a little frustrated. Among the three brothers, his family had always been the most well-off. But now, his second brother’s family was flourishing, on the verge of surpassing him, and he was not happy about it.
So, on an impulse, he decided to use this moment to reassert his status.
In the end, Qin Zhonghui just sighed softly and said nothing.
’Even he knew that if his eldest brother brought Third Brother’s family home, his sister-in-law would be furious...’
Meanwhile, Su Yun finished making the dumplings. After Qin Jiqun’s family of three had eaten and drunk their fill, they left with the eldest brother, Qin Bogang.
Although they would have preferred to stay in the big house, they’d heard that the owner kept a lot of expensive decorations inside. If they broke something, they’d have to pay for it.
And that was something they definitely couldn’t afford!
