The two of them didn’t speak for the rest of the walk. When they got to the classroom, their eyes met with Chen Feng’s, who was already there.

Chen Feng had a complicated look in his eyes and glanced away.

Qin Jiao understood in an instant. Chen Feng must not have told Li Xiaomei about it. Then again, it was also possible that Li Xiaomei simply hadn’t been home.

She turned her head and noticed a flash of understanding in Shen Yi’s eyes as well.

The two of them were once again bafflingly in sync... Qin Jiao felt her thoughts thrown into disarray by this strange feeling. She opened her textbook and began the morning self-study session.

’As long as I focus on my studies, none of these other worries will be able to affect me.’

Shen Yi, however, kept his brow furrowed. He thought hard. ’Everything was fine before, so why is Qin Jiao acting like this after just one night?’

Just then, the sound of coughing echoed in the classroom. The intermittent sounds reached Shen Yi’s ears.

"You caught a cold?"

"Yeah, I forgot to close the window last night."

"That’s so careless of you. Are you okay? You don’t have a fever, do you?"

Shen Yi listened intently to the students’ fragmented conversation, and his brow twitched slightly.

Even though they were seniors, the school believed in balancing work with rest, so it hadn’t canceled their P.E. classes.

However, P.E. was unstructured. Students who wanted to participate could head to the field, while those who didn’t could rest in the classroom.

Most of the boys used this time to play basketball or soccer. Shen Yi joined some of his classmates for a game and soon worked up a sweat.

The other students hurried to put their school jackets back on, but Shen Yi, still in his basketball jersey, walked over to Chen Feng, who was sitting and staring into space.

"Still haven’t dared to show your mom the photo?" Shen Yi picked up the water infused with goji berries that Qin Jiao had brought for him and took a long swig.

He didn’t know if it was just his imagination, but he always felt that the water Qin Jiao brought him tasted better than any other water he’d ever had.

After drinking it, he felt as if his entire body was filled with energy.

Chen Feng watched him warily. "It was just a hug, it doesn’t mean anything! Shen Yi, what exactly are you trying to do?"

"It’s not about what I’m trying to do. It’s about what your mom is trying to do."

"What my mom does is none of your business!"

"Heh. If she admits her relationship with Shen Zhengfeng, then tell me, is what she does my business or not? It must have been tough for your mom, raising you all by herself. Tell me, if there was an easier path, one that would let her raise you without struggling, don’t you think she’d take it?"

Shen Yi turned his head, a cold smile on his lips. "Chen Feng, I bet you still don’t believe your mom is the other woman. Of course, you probably wouldn’t believe it even if I had a picture of them in bed together. Because you’re just like that mother of yours—neither of you are any good!"

"Shen Yi, shut your mouth!"

Chen Feng threw a punch. Shen Yi could have easily dodged it, but he caught a glimpse of Qin Jiao and a few other girls passing by out of the corner of his eye, so he took the hit full-on.

He staggered back a couple of steps but kept a firm grip on the water cup.

’That water was something Qin Jiao had brought for him specifically. He couldn’t spill it.’

In his classmates’ eyes, Chen Feng had always been gentle and mild-mannered. Seeing him suddenly throw a punch shocked everyone around them.

Shocked as they were, the others immediately rushed forward to pull the two apart.

By this point, Shen Yi’s cheek was already starting to turn red.

By the time Qin Jiao processed what had happened, she was already at Shen Yi’s side. The others didn’t know why Chen Feng had suddenly lashed out at Shen Yi, but Qin Jiao had a pretty good idea.

She looked at Chen Feng coldly. "Chen Feng, what gives you the right to hit Shen Yi?"
