Chapter 1024: Options
"I do have a candidate, though. Someone who could stop the Spear Saint."
Just remembering his words, which were filled with confidence, made Ezekiel smile helplessly.
"I have heard that he’s insane from time to time, but..." Ezekiel sighed. "...I don’t know what to do with him anymore. If he succeeds, he will definitely become a monster."
Ezekiel crossed his arms while looking up. "Still, the special towers, huh?"
Ezekiel couldn’t help but recall the time he was investigating the Prophet’s attack on the Hacfield family.
A decade ago.
He slapped his desk while furrowing his eyebrows. "So, Michael Hacfield asked me to have my lovely princess marry his grandson. There is a big problem. He can’t guarantee his own grandson’s safety, considering he won’t be there with him. In other words, he won’t have any teachers who will guide him.
"And you’re saying that such a person will be good enough to be Christina’s husband?"
Ezekiel crossed his arms, falling silent. He had also heard something a bit too ridiculous. "Still, there was something that I couldn’t ignore. He boldly claimed that his grandson had actually awakened his unique ability.
"Impossible. No unique abilities had awakened before people evolved in the past forty years. So, he shouldn’t have awakened his unique ability at that age.
"However, Michael Hacfield wasn’t a man who would lie in this kind of conversation. No matter how ridiculous it was, what if this kid had actually awakened his unique ability?"
Ezekiel sucked in a cold breath. On the one hand, he didn’t want to believe it. On the other hand, if such a thing existed, that person would be able to master their unique ability from such a young age. There was no telling how far their achievement would go.
"Should I go for it? Although I do believe Christina has the talent to awaken a unique ability, there is no guarantee it will happen.
"If I secure the marriage first, it would be fine even if Christina failed to awaken her unique ability.
"This way, the Elseingarde’s rights wouldn’t be removed. There are many people who wish to establish a marriage with Tier 9 humans. After all, they can receive a lot of benefits, but more importantly, their protection.
"However, I don’t know what kind of guy this kid is, especially with the fact that he is the grandson of that madman."
Ezekiel crossed his arms, contemplating. "I guess I should do it. I need to establish the marriage first. In the case that Christina awakens her unique ability while this kid turns out to be a scoundrel, I will do everything in my power to break off the engagement.
"I am not someone who cares how many wives this kid has, as long as it’s not too many. In fact, it’s better to be this way because Christina’s children can take care of the family instead.
"The only problem is how he treats the people around him. If he is really a good person, I guess I should introduce them to each other."
Looking back, Ezekiel seemed to have made the right choice. He looked up while muttering, "It looks like I can retire pretty soon. I don’t know how long they will need, but I believe Christina can become a Tier 9 human soon.
"In that case, I will have to work a bit harder to take care of them. I don’t want their paths to get cut short."
Ezekiel’s expression turned solemn. "Another person, huh?"
...
"Are you seriously going to attempt such a reckless thing?" Christina dropped her jaw.
"Isn’t it fine? I can see how it works, but I don’t know how high the chance is." Jay shrugged. He was supportive, and it wasn’t like the entire group would be in danger because of this plan.
After all, if this plan failed, they would also stop going to this special tower.
Clovis nodded with a serious expression. "Vina. Do you think you can do it?"
Vina smiled wryly. "I can probably track her, but I don’t know how long I’ll need to do it. You should know how hard it is to track a wandering disaster that is not noticeable on the satellite."
"It’s fine. We have time. While we wait, we will focus on strengthening our team even more. Hopefully, Aileen and Rin can somehow reach Tier 8 before this mission. It will be even better if there are more Tier 8 humans.
"Besides, we’ve received some guidance from Sir Ezekiel. I believe some of you are already itching to work on it."
"Still, are you serious about this? If it works, it’s good. But if it doesn’t, this will change the entire outcome of our group, you know?" Kanaria asked, a little worried.
Hana raised her finger. "I don’t know how confident you are, but if you want money, I have it. It’s just I don’t know how much you need to hire a Tier 9 human."
Clovis smiled wryly. "There won’t be a need for money. Besides, our goals are aligned. I believe I can kill two birds with one stone with this plan."
"..." They fell silent. They had a lot of arguments, but they indeed couldn’t deny their chances.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Melody asked. "What should we do if we succeed? How should we fix the problem if we fail?"
Clovis nodded, understanding her concern. "If we succeed, we will proceed with the original plan and escape from there. This might also cause a strain in the relationship between the Spear Saint and the Prophet.
"If we fail, I can try to ask one more person. I just don’t know the price. That one will definitely work, as long as the price is right. As for the outcome of this group, well, it’s not the end of the world, so we’ll see."
Melody frowned. "I agree with Mara Leverstrike. She wants to know more about this world, but who is the second option? Who is actually insane enough to accept your invitation?"
Clovis tilted his head in confusion. "You guys have met him once. My grandfather’s rival in love, Kayne Ghorn the Berserker."
"Are you insane?"
