All My Professions Have Divine-Level Talents
Chapter 63: Death Priest
’When I’m stronger, I will avenge you all.’
...
Even if Lu Cang harbored righteous and benevolent thoughts, he had already realized this was definitely not something he should get involved in.
A Magic that could one-shot a Tier Four King Level Demon couldn’t kill it. It was carrying the heads of four Level 5 Adventurers and acting as if nothing had happened.
’I’m just a Level 2 Mage.’
’What am I supposed to do?’
’Go get myself killed?’
’Just give it another head to add to its collection?’
’What a joke.’
Lu Cang had no desire to make a glorious sacrifice, let alone a meaningless one.
He had only been in this world for a little over twenty days. He hadn’t developed enough of an attachment to its people to sacrifice his life for them.
BOOM!
Extreme Speed!
Lu Cang believed this was the fastest he could possibly go!
The scenery around him streamed past like a waterfall! WHOOSH!
In just a dozen breaths, he could fly from the west side to the east side in an instant!
’If that monster is going to attack Raine Town, it’ll at least have to kill...’
BZZZ—
However, Lu Cang’s mind was still racing.
In the next instant, a discordant figure appeared before his eyes.
The monster—the one with the long, slender tail, carrying the heads of four Adventurers—appeared right in front of him.
’When did it get here?’
"In a hurry to leave?"
Its eyes narrowed slightly, a coquettish look within them.
Lu Cang let out a breath.
’Dammit...’
’I never should have gotten involved with Raine Town’s business.’
’Divination Masters... I should never have believed a Divination Master’s bullshit in this lifetime.’
’Back when Pari told me about the Demon invasion, I should have just headed east with her without a second thought.’
A single "Xiong Dai Zhi Gao Ji" reading was all it took to dupe me into coming this way.
Lu Cang met the gaze of the unknown creature before him.
It had the face of a woman, but the whites of its eyes were completely black, and its irises were blood-red.
Its arms were pale and slender, adorned with faint, tattoo-like patterns.
Black blood still oozed from its various wounds.
It opened its hands, and the four heads plummeted, slamming into the earth.
Lu Cang keenly observed that its fingers did not open and close with perfect fluidity.
"Such pure Magic Power."
"Your Magic Power, it comes from the Void, doesn’t it."
Lu Cang met her gaze.
After a moment, he replied, "Yes."
"What is your relationship with Izparut?" Her expression darkened slightly.
But before Lu Cang could answer, it spoke again. "Never mind."
It slowly raised a hand toward Lu Cang.
Lu Cang could see that the movement seemed somewhat strained.
BOOM!
[Rejection Wind Roar]
Lu Cang dodged in a flash!
And at almost the exact same instant, three enormous, deep-black blades slashed up from the ground!
In a split second, they swept across the entire town!
They sliced three massive gashes into the distant town walls!
Three long, deep fissures stretched out across the earth, extending all the way to the horizon—
Lu Cang’s pupils contracted!
Without a moment’s hesitation, Lu Cang whipped out a [Random Teleportation Scroll].
’Screw it!’
’If I don’t get out now, it’ll be too late!’
"Where do you think you’re going?"
SNAP!
The Scroll in front of him instantly burst into flames and vanished!
The random teleportation didn’t activate!
’The enemy... burned my Scroll.’
As the Scroll burned away, Lu Cang could see a mocking smile appear on its face. "Didn’t anyone ever tell you not to use a Scroll right in front of someone?"
"Anyone who isn’t a complete idiot wouldn’t just let you use a Scroll, would they."
’Shit...’
’It’s an intelligent monster!’
It raised its finger, already pointing at him.
The threat of Death!
But just then!
A loud shout erupted from the distant town wall, "Flee to the center of the Array!"
"The closer you get to the Array, the stronger the gravity!"
Hearing this, Lu Cang instantly accelerated toward the Array!
At the same time, he formed a barrier in front of himself.
BOOM!
It was almost instantaneous!
The enemy flicked its finger!
Yet in that very same instant, the thought of swapping positions flashed through Lu Cang’s mind!
There was no time to think!
Lu Cang immediately agreed!
BOOM!
Lu Cang saw a black flash streak across the sky!
It pierced through the air!
And in the path of that black flash was a Defender holding a Giant Shield!
[Defensive Swap (Tier Four)]
Switches positions with a target after gaining their consent.
A Defender’s Skill.
Used to block damage for a teammate.
’He saved me?’
Lu Cang had no time to dwell on it; he immediately shifted his gaze toward the Magic Array!
He accelerated in that direction with all his might!
"Tsk..."
"An obstruction."
The monster in the sky glanced at the distant wall, then turned to look back at Lu Cang.
’That last strike...’
’It didn’t kill that Defender.’
It had thought, ’Why get serious about killing a mere Level 2 Mage?’
’A casual strike should have been enough.’
But it never expected a Level 4 Defender to be swapped in. Indeed, that last strike wasn’t enough to kill such a tanky guy.
’Now, should I chase that little guy first?’
’Or...’
’...should I kill all those people first?’
’Hmm~’
’On second thought, it would be better to catch that little guy and make him watch me kill everyone on that wall, one by one.’
’He’s the one who killed the most of my subjects just now, after all.’
’Though those subjects were all useless trash.’
’Oh~ His Magic Power comes from the Void, too.’
’Maybe Izparut values him highly. In that case, I might as well kill this human child right in front of Izparut.’
’The original goal of this trip was to intercept and kill Iz, anyway.’
’Of course, this was its own idea, not an order from anyone else.’
Having made up its mind, it turned its gaze back toward Lu Cang.
But before that,
she casually lifted her hand.
SWOOSH—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Three slashes tore through the air, dicing the Defender who had just protected Lu Cang into pieces.
’Better to chop up this nuisance who caused me trouble.’
’It’s just that...’
’Izparut’s Gravity Magic...’
’...is really making it inconvenient for me to move.’
’And those Level 5 Adventurers from before... they were willing to die just to inflict some damage on me.’
’But, as for these remaining small fry...’
’It shouldn’t take much effort to finish them off. After I do, my injuries should be mostly healed.’
’Then, when I go to kill Iz... the Lord of Insects will surely grant me the most generous reward.’
As these thoughts ran through its mind, its gaze once again fell upon Lu Cang.
...
All of Lu Cang’s known Magic had a negligible Effect on the monster before him.
And he couldn’t outrun it simply by fleeing.
The only thing Lu Cang could rely on...
...was to pray to the unknown.
As he ran,
"Let that which is fettered in the Void become the unchanging cornerstone, the foundation of all things. Without the Root Source, all is empty. Let All Transformations take form, yet remain constant. Through the Source, attain the law; become the Source of All Laws."
[Magic Learned—Primordial Origin]
Thanks to his ten-thousand-fold Skill Proficiency bonus,
the moment he learned the Skill, Lu Cang instantly knew how to cast it and what it did.
Lu Cang took out the [Professional Secret Scroll] from his inventory Space.
[Professional Secret Scroll—Death Priest]
[Root Magic—Primordial Origin: Awaken Spirituality, Summon Gaze]
Awaken one’s own Spirituality and call upon an unknown gaze... This was a Profession-change Ritual driven by Magic, a Ritual to pray for advancement.
Lu Cang reached the very center of the Gravity Array.
BOOM!
The color of the sky changed!
A bizarre transformation occurred in the heavens!
The [Secret Scroll] in Lu Cang’s hands began to burn away.
And as the Secret Scroll burned, the power of another Profession began to awaken within Lu Cang’s body.
[Second Profession—Death Priest]
