Sun Xiaorui was silent for a while before saying candidly, "Then you really are wrong. If you promised her something back then, backing out now would make anyone angry and hurt."

Chen Feng said, "If I were to become her boyfriend, it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to continue living here."

Sun Xiaorui paused, then laughed, "It’s okay, I can live elsewhere. But Mengting has already told me that I could still live here, but we need to sleep in separate rooms. I already mentioned this to you."

"What she said is true, but you should know how strong a woman’s jealousy can be. Although she was just my sworn sister before, she already took issue with us sharing a room every day. Once she becomes my girlfriend, not only will we have to sleep in separate rooms, she might even limit or forbid our intimacy."

Sun Xiaorui retorted playfully, "Are you suggesting I should help you think of a way to prevent her from becoming your girlfriend?"

Chen Feng shook his head, "I’ve thought about it for ages and there’s no good solution. Do you have any ideas? I’m just warning you, if Mengting truly becomes my girlfriend, it wouldn’t benefit you at all."

Sun Xiaorui sighed, "There’s nothing we can do. I’m far from Mengting; she’s better in every aspect, especially since she pleases your parents. Most importantly, I know you have feelings for her. You’re resisting her becoming your girlfriend because you feel differently about her compared to other women."

Sun Xiaorui was right about this.

After talking for a while, Sun Xiaorui said, "I’ll sleep in a different room tonight to prevent Mengting from getting upset."

Chen Feng said, "She’s not even my girlfriend yet, there’s no need for us to separate rooms now."

Sun Xiaorui said casually, "My relative is visiting now, so sharing a room with you is inconvenient. I might as well take a few days apart from you out of respect for Mengting."

Chen Feng teased, "You really have the consciousness to play second fiddle."

"If Mengting agrees, I’d gladly be your lifelong mistress."

"I appreciate hearing that, but others would think you’re degrading yourself."

"Life is for oneself; I don’t care about others’ opinions."

"Alright then, let’s sleep separately tonight."

Although he was accustomed to sharing a bed with Sun Xiaorui, it was sometimes inconvenient.

For instance, when he wants to talk or text with other women, he has to avoid her, and when he practices meditation, he used to go to the training room, but now can do it directly in the bedroom if they sleep separately.

So he didn’t mind much about sleeping apart.

The room they’re in now, and the one next to Wu Mengting’s, are both master bedrooms; the room opposite isn’t as big but has its own bathroom—this will be Sun Xiaorui’s room from now on.

Not long after, Wu Mengting heard the noise and came out of her room. Knowing Sun Xiaorui would sleep separately from Chen Feng tonight, she didn’t say anything, just helped Sun Xiaorui move.

It was clear that she genuinely wanted Chen Feng and Sun Xiaorui to sleep in separate rooms.
