After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret
Chapter 237: Unexpected Harvest
Ian Chandler had wanted to invite Nina Jacobs to have lunch with them.
However, she refused.
It was a family meal for them, and she didn’t want to intrude.
She planned to go out with Wayne Warner instead.
As for Chase Gallagher and the others, they had already arranged to go out and kill zombies with Wayne Abbott’s group.
"If I get back early, I’ll come find you," Nina Jacobs said.
She had her eye on a factory that produced plastic products and planned to go collect some spray bottles to portion out her Blood Stopping Spray.
Wayne Warner seemed to be in a good mood, too. It had been a long time since he’d gone out alone with Nina Jacobs.
"Killing zombies really is refreshing."
After killing the small horde of zombies that came at them on the road, Nina Jacobs felt thoroughly refreshed.
Seeing that Wayne Warner was about to dig out the Crystal Cores, Nina Jacobs stopped him.
"The Crystal Cores... I’ve already collected them all."
She hadn’t used her Automatic Pickup Skill in front of Wayne Warner since her system upgrade.
Whether it was Crystal Cores on the ground or those still inside the zombies’ rotten heads, using this Skill allowed her to instantly collect all the Zombie Crystal Cores from any zombie she or her companions killed nearby.
Wayne Warner seemed a bit confused.
But he still got in the car with her.
The place Nina Jacobs wanted to go wasn’t far, about a two or three-hour drive.
She wasn’t worried about finding it empty.
After all, plastic bottles were inedible and not very useful, and they took up a lot of space.
It was unlikely anyone would have collected them.
It was already afternoon when they arrived at the Brightway Products Factory.
Before they could even park, the car was completely surrounded by zombies.
’Why are there so many zombies here?’
There hadn’t been this many zombies on the road just a moment ago.
It was as if all the nearby zombies had been lured here ahead of time.
But Nina Jacobs didn’t hesitate. She vaulted onto the roof of the car, a shield of fire surrounding her as Fireballs rained down from mid-air one after another!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The Fireballs struck the ground, blasting a path open.
PSHH.
A Stone Spike erupted from the ground, followed by a second, and a third...
Wayne Warner took the opportunity to get out of the car.
The surrounding Stone Spikes formed a natural barrier. He swept his long legs around him, instantly knocking down a swath of zombies.
A Wood Element Mutated Zombie conjured a vine, but Wayne Warner grabbed it and used it to restrain the zombie instead.
With a FWOOSH, a jet of flame pierced through the Wood Element zombie’s head.
Seeing the number of Mutated Zombies increasing, Nina Jacobs took out her Fire Roar Whip.
She tried to infuse and Control her Fire Element Superpower into the Fire Roar Whip. Layers of flame suddenly erupted around the whip, as if it had come to life.
SWOOSH!
Under the Control of her Fire Element Superpower, the Fire Roar Whip shot straight through the body of a Gold Element Mutated Zombie!
’A Fire-attribute weapon, just as expected.’
This was a method Nina Jacobs had read about in the Fire Element Skill Book.
A weapon of a certain attribute could be infused with the same type of Superpower, and the combination would produce a much greater effect.
Nina Jacobs then tried combining her Fire Serpent with the Fire Roar Whip. The Fire Serpent already had a powerful impact on its own.
Facing more than ten zombies lunging at her, the Fire Roar Whip was able to intercept them all!
BOOM!
Nina Jacobs seized the opportunity to Control the Fire Serpent. Boosted by her Heart of Strange Fire, the serpent devoured the heads of several zombies.
Looking at the factory’s sealed main gate, Nina Jacobs couldn’t help but feel a little puzzled.
It didn’t sound like there were any zombies inside the Brightway Products Factory.
Nor did it seem like anyone was inside.
It was a stark contrast to the swarming hordes of zombies outside.
Not wanting to get bogged down in a fight, Nina Jacobs used her Fire Element with her left hand and her Earth Element with her right, sending a continuous barrage of Flaming Arrows and Stone Spikes smashing into the zombie horde!
A series of Wood Element Vines rose up in front of the two of them.
"Go!"
A dozen thick vines temporarily blocked the zombies, and Nina Jacobs pulled Wayne Warner over the wall with her.
However, the zombies outside quickly rushed to the gate, pounding on the large metal door with a loud CLANG CLANG CLANG.
Inside the empty security office, Nina Jacobs deployed her safe house. After they waited inside for over twenty minutes, the noise from the main gate finally stopped.
"You wait here for me."
She then took out a whole rack of roasted lamb ribs for Wayne Warner and placed it on the safe house table.
She also put out some staple foods and drinks.
It seemed like Wayne Warner hadn’t eaten like this in a long time; he couldn’t take his eyes off the food...
After finding a factory layout map in the security office, Nina Jacobs headed straight in one direction.
’Don’t tell me there isn’t a single zombie in here?’
Nina Jacobs did a lap using her Speed Element Superpower and found that was indeed the case.
She quickly found the finished goods warehouse.
There were spray bottles of all sizes here, and Nina Jacobs simply collected them all into her storage space.
There were tens of thousands of these spray bottles, which should be enough to last her for a while.
Besides spray bottles, the factory also produced various other plastic products like buckets and washbasins.
Nina Jacobs didn’t hold back and collected them all into her storage space as well.
She didn’t miss the production workshops inside the factory either. After collecting a few more things, she passed by a locked door.
Looking closely, she saw a symbol painted on the door.
Nina Jacobs recognized the symbol. Arthur and the others had told her it was the insignia of the Crawford Army.
After using a Stone Spike to destroy the lock, Nina Jacobs couldn’t help but grin.
’Just as I thought...’
There was a hidden warehouse here.
The things inside were piled up messily, but they were all legitimate supplies.
There was drinking water and juice, various gift boxes of cured meat and sausages, and a large number of gift sets with things like tea and mooncakes.
These goods were piled as high as a mountain, no less than the stock of a large supermarket.
Another area held cooking oil, honey, and some dry goods and spices.
The boxed goods stacked highest along the wall were feminine hygiene products like sanitary pads and tampons.
’That’s quite a haul.’
Since it all belonged to the Crawford Army, Nina Jacobs collected everything without hesitation.
If the Crawford Army’s insignia hadn’t been there, she might have hesitated a little.
But now, hesitating for even a minute would be disrespectful to these supplies.
The zombies outside must have been deliberately lured here.
The purpose was to protect these supplies.
After all, people wouldn’t normally come to a plastic bottle factory.
Besides, this was probably just a temporary transfer point for the Crawford Army.
Which meant it was very likely there were still members of the Crawford Army nearby.
Having figured this out, Nina Jacobs decided to leave with Wayne Warner as soon as possible.
Not even half an hour after they had left, several vehicles arrived outside the Brightway Products Factory.
When Hugo Crawford saw the ground littered with zombie corpses, he had an ominous premonition.
"Quick! Get inside and check the goods!"
Ignoring the zombies that were closing in again, Hugo Crawford had already rushed to the main gate with his men.
The main gate wasn’t damaged, so he thought it was just a false alarm. But when he reached that other door, his heart sank.
All the locks had been destroyed.
"Crawford, it looks like an Earth Element Superpower," one of his subordinates reported after checking.
And when they pushed the door open and saw the completely empty space, they didn’t dare say another word.
The supplies they had scavenged over the past few days, all stored here, had been completely cleared out.
Not only that, but someone had used spray paint to draw a large turtle on the floor.
In the very center of the turtle was the crooked character "Cao."
Hugo Crawford’s expression had never been so ugly.
This person not only took everything but even left this insult.
"After them!"
Hugo Crawford roared, his fury uncontrollable.
