Chapter 226: Mysterious Prisoner

"I’ll tell you the other two later," Yosan said briefly.

He hadn’t decided yet.

Seeing he wouldn’t get anything more, Setan turned to leave. "If you’re not saying, then I’m going."

Yosan glanced at Zena. "Aren’t you going to greet her?"

This male seemed unusually indifferent. Yet Zena had claimed things were progressing well.

Zena lifted her lips into a charming smile. "Ah, that’s just how he is. Rigid and cold. Especially in front of others, he always keeps his distance from me."

Though she appeared composed, her heart was anything but steady.

He hadn’t exposed her just now. Would he stay silent?

She had briefly considered changing her story, but that might raise Yosan’s suspicion.

"I’m just naturally cold," Setan said flatly. His gaze shifted to Zena. "Coming?"

Relief flickered through her. "Does the Great Shaman have any other orders?"

"No. You may go," Yosan replied.

So he really was just a stiff, distant type. It seemed Zena had made some progress after all. Good. She needed to take down those males soon.

"We’ll take our leave, then."

Zena left with Setan. After they had walked some distance from the city lord’s residence, she said softly, "Thank you for helping me."

"I wasn’t helping you." Setan didn’t even look back as he walked away.

Zena let out a light laugh. So, he liked Nina too.

After standing in the hall for a while, Yosan turned and entered the inner chamber.

Hidden nearby, Nina followed.

According to Zena’s map, that mysterious being was beneath the inner chamber.

As she moved deeper inside, Nina realized Yosan was heading in the exact same direction.

Was he going there as well?

Should she wait, or follow?

After a brief moment of thought, she chose to follow. Perhaps she would uncover something.

She watched as Yosan entered a room and stopped before a wall. Power gathered in his hand, and he forcibly pulled the wall open.

An entrance appeared behind it.

Yosan stepped inside.

Just before the wall closed again, Nina slipped in after him.

She followed him down a long flight of dark, winding stairs until they reached a place that felt deeply unsettling.

It was a vast circular space. Around its edges burned a ring of pale blue flames, flickering like ghost fire.

Strange symbols covered the ground, each one radiating an ancient and formidable power.

Deep within the abyss below, a pair of crimson eyes snapped open.

A strange, knowing smile flickered within them.

So, you’ve come, little one.

Yosan stopped at the edge of the space and bowed respectfully. "Master, I have something to report."

"What is it?"

The voice that answered was ancient, authoritative, and utterly indifferent, echoing from all directions at once.

"The teng snake has been taken by Nina," Yosan replied, his fingertips trembling slightly as he suppressed his fear. "But I’ve already sealed the city. I will capture both it and Nina very soon."

A low sound echoed.

"Hmm?"

The voice remained calm, yet its pressure was suffocating.

With a loud crash, Yosan was violently slammed against the wall.

"Useless."

Yosan immediately dropped to his knees. "Master, forgive me. It is this servant’s incompetence that failed you."

He swallowed, forcing himself to continue. "Master, Nina possesses something that suppresses my witchcraft. The curse we placed on her can no longer control her. I beg you to intervene and assist me."

Nina was far stronger than he had anticipated. If the curse remained suppressed, not only would he fail to deal with her, he might even be killed by her in return.

If he hadn’t suffered repeated failures recently and run out of options, he would never have dared seek his Master’s help.

Even though Zena claimed she could handle those males, she had not yet succeeded, and the timeline remained uncertain. And Nina herself was powerful. He had no real confidence.

"Oh?"

In the darkness, those crimson eyes shifted, locking onto Nina’s direction.

Interesting. The little one has some skill.

A chill crept down Nina’s spine. She felt as though she had been seen.

"Very well. The curse on her will soon be reawakened, and this time, it will no longer be suppressed."

A glimmer of excitement flickered in those red eyes.

What will you do when you hear this, little one? How delightful.

At that very moment, a faint pain stirred in Nina’s head.

Her gaze sharpened. The suppressed curse...was reactivating.

Worse, she realized she could no longer connect to Little Bun.

So Zena had been right. This being was terrifyingly powerful.

Yosan’s face lit with relief. "Thank you, Master."

Now he could finally act with confidence.

"Mm. Get out." The voice turned impatient.

"Yes."

Yosan hurried away. He had wanted to ask for more power, but sensing his Master’s displeasure, he dared not push further.

After he left, Nina carefully scanned the surroundings. The underground chamber was vast and empty. Where was that being?

"Looking for me, little one?"

The voice echoed again, tinged with amusement.

Nina’s heart jolted. Had he truly discovered her, or was he testing her? 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

She remained perfectly still.

Suddenly, the blue-white flames drifted toward her, forming a circle around her body.

A flicker of unease rose in her chest.

He had found her.

"Run along, little one. Your time is limited. In at most seven days, the curse within you will fully awaken. And when that happens...you will belong to me."

The voice carried a playful, almost teasing tone.

Nina forced herself to stay calm. "You’re imprisoned here. As long as I leave, you won’t be able to control me."

"It doesn’t matter," the voice replied with quiet certainty. "No matter how far you go, I can always bring you back."

Nina’s eyes darkened slightly. "So all of Yosan’s efforts are to free you?"

"Exactly." The voice answered without hesitation. "Anything else you’d like to ask? If I’m in a good mood, I might tell you."

"Who are you?"

"You’ll find out in time. For now...I’m not interested in telling you."

Silence fell.

Nina said nothing more. After one last glance at the space, she turned and left.

In the darkness, those crimson eyes gleamed with interest before slowly closing again.

Nina quickly exited the city lord’s residence and headed back.

Meanwhile, after leaving the residence, Lina wandered unknowingly toward Nina’s lodging and spotted Odian and the others.

Excitement flickered across her face, though hesitation followed when she recalled their previous attitude.

Why were these males here? Had their female been exiled as well?

If that were the case...then this was her chance. What male would willingly stay with a disgraced female?

A smug smile curved her lips as she stepped forward.

"So, you’re here too?"
