After Divorce, She Became a Global Sensation and Won't Forgive Her Groveling Husband and Son
Chapter 67: Joanna Sherman Is Unworthy
Justin Hughes spewed out some nasty words:
"Who the hell brought her here? Isn’t she just going to cause trouble?"
"Vincent, how can you just stand by and do nothing while Lead Aerospace acts so recklessly!"
Justin Hughes had nothing to do with Stellaron; he was purely standing up for Joanna Sherman.
He felt that Sophia Shaw’s presence was just a way to make trouble for Joanna Sherman.
"Justin Hughes, that’s enough," Joanna Sherman interrupted, displeased. "The J Family invited her. It has nothing to do with Vincent."
"Tch!"
Justin Hughes thought Caleb Croft was truly desperate, clutching at straws.
If Joanna Sherman couldn’t even fix the rocket’s problem, what damn good could Sophia Shaw do?!
Only Elias Underwood stared blankly at the screen, his expression growing stranger by the second.
The people from Lead Aerospace had turned off the surveillance cameras in the critical areas, so all they could see was maintenance work on some of the less important, peripheral sections.
Joanna Sherman didn’t take Sophia Shaw very seriously either.
At the end of the day, it was just Levin Sawyer, a man who rarely showed affection, doting on a woman. Sophia was just tagging along to show her face and provoke Vincent and her.
The more Sophia acted out, the more she would disgust Vincent.
Joanna Sherman glanced over at Vincent Grant.
Vincent had been deep in discussion with Jenson Forrest, and sure enough, his eyes weren’t on the screen.
Joanna Sherman discreetly withdrew her gaze and walked over to Vincent, joining their discussion.
Justin Hughes couldn’t understand their technical jargon and was unable to chime in.
However, like Joanna Sherman, he did notice that Vincent wasn’t looking at Sophia, and a wave of satisfaction washed over him.
’That shameless Sophia Shaw,’ he thought. ’Appearing in public with Levin Sawyer before she’s even divorced. Does she really think she can provoke Vincent this way?’
’She’s dreaming!’
Justin Hughes had conflicting feelings about Sophia and Vincent’s marriage.
He didn’t want them to stay together and block Joanna Sherman’s path, but he was also afraid that if they truly divorced, Joanna would end up completely with Vincent.
「Inside the cabin.」
After fourteen hours of hard work, both Sophia Shaw and Levin Sawyer were running on fumes.
Moreover, Sophia had a past heart injury, so Levin Sawyer was worried and insisted she come down to eat something.
Without any ceremony, the two sat on the floor, discussing the issues while they ate.
Caleb Croft was extremely anxious.
But after they had worked so hard for so long, how could he possibly say anything? He could only stand at a distance, trying his best not to disturb them.
Vincent Grant finally stopped his discussion with Jenson Forrest and Joanna Sherman, turning his head to look at Sophia.
Sophia’s head was down as she ate, bite after bite. She was eating very quickly.
Her fair face was smudged with some machine oil, but she didn’t seem to care.
Vincent casually pulled out a tissue and strode over.
"Here."
Sophia froze for a moment, looking up at Vincent with a pair of quiet eyes.
Vincent pointed to her face. "You have some oil on you."
"Thanks for the reminder, President Grant." Levin Sawyer also pulled out a tissue and offered it to Sophia.
For a moment, two hands were extended in front of Sophia.
"Thank you." Sophia took the one from Levin Sawyer’s hand.
She lowered her gaze and began to wipe her face meticulously.
Vincent had actually noticed long ago that Sophia was meticulous about everything she did.
He silently retracted his hand, crumpling the tissue in his palm.
After finishing their meal, Sophia and Levin Sawyer headed back into the cabin.
"I... I’ll go with you."
Elias Underwood spoke up suddenly.
He looked at Sophia, the disdain in his eyes now gone.
Levin Sawyer and Sophia made eye contact.
"One more person is one more pair of hands. Let him come in."
It was Sophia who spoke.
She knew Elias Underwood’s capabilities; he could be a help to them.
Levin Sawyer was only acting as Sophia’s assistant today, so of course, he deferred to her arrangements and nodded.
The others, however, didn’t see it that way.
For Levin Sawyer to defer to Sophia even on such a critical issue seemed a bit too indulgent.
"I’ll go too," Joanna Sherman said, walking over.
"No matter what, this is Stellaron’s problem. We have an obligation to help."
Sophia glanced at her quietly. "You’re not a good fit."
"Sophia Shaw, that’s going too far," Justin Hughes jumped in angrily. "Personal matters are personal matters, and business is business. How shameless of you to use a public matter to suppress Joanna."
Sophia: "..."
Levin Sawyer laughed. "If Sophia really wanted to suppress Miss Sherman, she would have said she’s not worthy!"
The implication was: she was already being polite.
Sophia truly had been tactful.
She hadn’t expected to be criticized by Justin Hughes for being so polite.
Vincent’s eyes darkened as he looked over at her, his expression stormy.
’All this fuss from so many people over a single polite remark?’
’Joanna Sherman, the darling of the group, is really something else.’
Sophia had no time for their drama, and even less time to think about how blissfully doted upon Joanna was. She just turned and left.
Levin Sawyer crooked a finger at Elias Underwood. "If you’re coming to help, let’s go."
Elias Underwood glanced at Joanna Sherman, but still followed Levin Sawyer and Sophia into the inner cabin.
Sophia didn’t stand on ceremony with anyone. She took charge without hesitation, issuing a series of commands to Levin Sawyer and Elias Underwood.
The two men followed her instructions to the letter.
Time trickled by slowly.
「Nine a.m. the next day.」
"All rocket diagnostics are normal! It’s fixed!"
Hearing the report from the data tracking personnel, Caleb Croft let out a long sigh of relief.
"Excellent, excellent. It’s finally fixed."
He gave Sophia a thumbs-up. "Young lady, you’re incredible!"
Justin Hughes, seeing the trio emerge from a distance, curled his lip. "President Croft, don’t just praise anyone. That woman was just tagging along. It was all Levin Sawyer and Elias Underwood’s work."
"If she hadn’t stopped Joanna from going, it would have been done even faster!"
The moment Caleb Croft heard the name "Joanna," his face filled with disgust. However, since the problem was solved, he refrained from saying anything harsh.
He strode toward Sophia.
Being so blatantly ignored, Joanna Sherman was quite displeased.
She crossed her arms, and her gaze toward Sophia turned sullen.
"My thanks to you both."
Caleb Croft said sincerely, gripping Sophia’s hand tightly.
"Young lady, you are my savior, my true savior!"
’I can’t let that brat from my family handle things anymore,’ he thought. ’He just makes a mess of everything!’
Sophia remained calm and composed. "You’re too kind."
When Sophia smiled, she was like a newly blossomed tuberose—impossibly gentle and beautiful.
Caleb Croft hated his son even more.
’Useless worm!’
’If he had even a shred of usefulness and could marry this young lady, it would be the Croft Family’s greatest blessing.’
Caleb Croft couldn’t help but ask, "Young lady, President Sawyer isn’t your boyfriend, is he?"
"No," Sophia said with a smile, shaking her head. "He’s my senior."
’Good that he isn’t.’
’There’s still hope!’
’His son was a disappointment, but he was willing to trade his entire fortune to have her marry into the Croft Family.’
’In the future, he would hand over the entire Croft family business for her to manage...’
Sophia had no idea what schemes Caleb Croft was hatching. Having worked for a full day and night, she was utterly exhausted now that she could relax.
Levin Sawyer could also see how tired she was, so he politely said their goodbyes to Caleb Croft.
Vincent Grant and Joanna Sherman walked over. "Thank you both."
Vincent generously offered a check for a huge sum.
Levin Sawyer accepted it readily. "You’re too generous, President Grant."
He put an arm around Sophia and walked past him.
Sophia was terribly sleepy, her eyes half-lidded. She didn’t spare Vincent a single glance.
But Vincent took a step after them. "You’re both tired. Why not let my driver take you?"
His gaze fell on Sophia. "Cedric happens to be home today, so you could..."
"No need. We have to get back to the company."
As soon as Sophia got in the car, she fell asleep.
Elias Underwood blocked Levin Sawyer before he could get in the car. "Levin, tell me, who... who exactly is Sophia Shaw?"
