Academic gathering with a lich
Chapter 442 - 404 Situation Reversal
"Stasis, let me go! Let me go down and kill that kid!"
From the stands, Mr. Gravity clung to the railing in front of him, his expression trembling, as Mr. Stasis held onto his lower body and continued to apply a localized solidification spell on Gravity’s body.
"Gravity, think of the bigger picture, the competition with Nameless has already started, interfering with the match is a serious rule violation."
"Match? I don’t care about the match! Let me go down and clean house now!!!"
The commotion at the Advanced Magic Research Society quickly captured the attention of most people in Andrey.
Lyle was utterly confused as he watched the Lich standing in the arena, left hand holding a book and right hand pinching the chin, engrossed in reading the manual.
"Gentleman, if I’m not mistaken, this Mr. Nameless here..."
"He’s probably in the middle of navigating his Skill Tree on the spot."
"...What a talent," Lyle’s eyes followed the calm and composed figure as he flipped through the pages, completely disregarding Platinum King Naizode in front of everyone. "This must be a kind of talent as well."
In the area occupied by the Advanced Magic Research Society, Mr. Gravity’s frenzy was already restrained by his colleagues, slumped in his seat, his eyes dull, his vacant gaze directed towards the stand opposite the arena, uttering dreamy gibberish.
"I was really stupid, truly..."
"I knew when I had him practice simulating a star system, he did it perfunctorily and just got a manual."
"I knew he wasn’t that interested, which is why I gave him the simulation of the star system two weeks in advance."
"Two weeks... I thought, with two weeks, even Nameless wouldn’t be so irresponsible not to master the operation of the simulated star system."
"I was still too naïve..."
"That kid... That manual never even got opened!!!"
Hearing Mr. Gravity’s howl, several Liches sitting in the back rows anxiously poked their heads out.
"So, Mr. Gravity, you mean the Advanced Magic Research Society is going to lose?!"
Seeing the anxious looks of the Liches, Gravity displayed an oratory skill like the final words of the dead.
"It’s a lost cause, the kind that can’t be saved," Mr. Gravity pinched up grains of sand and dust from the stone terrace, the tiny fragments hovering in his hand like a small asteroid with a halo. "If last-minute cramming worked, then why would we need to study regularly? That kid Nameless is doomed for sure, my Magic Creation, simulating celestial objects, isn’t something that can be manipulated casually. Damn kid, why didn’t you put in more work regularly, now look where you are, he probably can’t even manage to deploy the star system."
"Star system deployment? What is that like?"
Since it was about his own proud creation, Gravity was more than willing to explain and show off to others.
"A simulated star system is a magic artifact that mimics celestial motion. Once deployed, the spellcaster is regarded as a star, and those planets revolve around the spellcaster, becoming part of the gravitational array. Deploying the star system is a prerequisite for a series of subsequent spells that mimic the evolution of a star. Without mastering this first step, those simulated forms are nothing but spheres. However, for some lazybones, this step could take weeks."
Death Star snapped his fingers, his hand stretched over the railing, pointing towards the center of the arena.
"Is that what you call the weeks-long star system deployment?"
In the center of the field.
Nameless stood still, his left hand still holding the booklet, intently reviewing it, while his right hand danced in the air.
As dew-like drops of magic power scattered from his hand, simulated planets revolved around him, moving away and drawing out a domain covered in dark blue luminescent dust.
The stars returned to their places, the star system deployed.
Nameless looked at the nine celestial bodies that began to rotate counterclockwise at his command, raising an eyebrow. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"It’s a bit harder than I imagined, worthy of a Gravity Mentor’s toy."
The nine celestial bodies formed a nine-layer array, spreading out a Star Domain with Nameless at the center.
Mr. Gravity stood up in the stands, gritting his teeth while struggling to suppress the corners of his mouth from curling upwards.
"A true genius, Nameless, is utterly useless except for his talent."
"But with talent alone to have a foothold in the Advanced Magic Research Society... Truly worthy of being my apprentice."
The once disheartened Mr. Gravity underwent a complete change of temperament, standing on the bleachers with an expression that spoke ’teachable child,’ proudly watching Nameless and occasionally commenting with a smile.
Electromagnetic rolled his eyes, "Nameless simply deployed the Star Domain, it’s just like flipping the switch of a magical artifact."
"Don’t get too excited, Gravity, victory is still far off."
The recently all-’I am Trash’ Mr. Gravity revealed a proud smile, folding his arms across his chest, responding to his colleague.
"No, the outcome is already decided. The moment Nameless unfolded the Simulation Starfield, the match ended."
"Just watch."
Naizode looked at the large expanse of the Star Domain, his gaze turning more solemn.
Was this guy feigning weakness? He claimed to be unfamiliar with that artifact, but he deployed the barrier instantly. Thankfully I’m massive and a bit slow to react, or I would have fallen for his trick! Being massive really has its advantages!
Naizode pinched his own Platinum head, eyeing the large cluster of light-dusted dark matter; the intangible pressure felt even heavier.
How am I going to defeat him?
Facing the celestial body that floated right in front of him, Naizode made his attempt.
A full-force Platinum punch, his stone fist collided with the small planet.
The black matter was produced by these spheres, so destroying these fulcrums should do the trick!
Watching Naizode’s heavy Platinum punch hit the simulated celestial body, shaped from dark matter, Mr. Gravity revealed a twisted smile.
"The moment you attacked, I knew, the victor was decided."
The fist and the small sphere collided.
And then, there was no ’then.’
The Simulation Star didn’t shatter, and Naizode’s stone fist was unharmed.
Naizode rubbed his stone head with his other hand, somewhat puzzled.
"Did I not use enough strength? Then I’ll hit it again."
Having said that, Naizode tried to retract his fist, but... it stuck.
His fist and the celestial sphere seemed to be one and the same, with not a trace of separation.
To make matters worse, that planet continued its slow orbit around Nameless, undisturbed in speed, even with a Stone Monster of several tons stuck to it.
Naizode was slowly moved by the small sphere.
"Planetary Gravity, although it’s just a simulated celestial body, not just anyone can withstand its gravity. You don’t have the power to smash a planet, hence you won’t have the strength to break free from gravity, Stone Monster," Mr. Gravity commented, watching his student while smiling.
"Good thing that when the Simulation Star System was designed, considerations for foolproof operation and automatic defenses were taken into account."
