Chapter 425 - 387 The True Intent of the Liches
As the high-level Creation entirely crafted by the Necromancer Figure Club, when Lyle’s magic energy first connected through Nia’s transformed flesh and bones to the Spinal Giant Wheel, he already felt the superiority of its performance.
It was as if you had suddenly taken control of a stronger, younger, and more robust body. The resilient bone spurs, the power lurking in the flesh, and the blood vessel network pulsating in sync with Lyle’s heart, all brought him joy.
The rigid bone spurs and swollen yet powerful flesh were secured within the giant spine bones forming the ring; the Spine Creation had two heart engines that made sounds like a beast roaring next to Lyle with every compression of the magic blood.
The nervous system was hidden within the flesh, and at the ends of these mixed nerve bundles, Lyle’s magic was connected. Most of the ends.
Through self-inspection, Lyle discovered those clusters embedded sporadically in the flesh like seashells on a beach. These clusters, like parasites, had seized the nerves of the surrounding flesh creations, preventing Lyle’s will from controlling them, especially in those specific areas that actively resisted.
That must be what Shiny mentioned as the mechanicalized soul core, the extra brain of the Spine Creation. Although Lyle was not certain which creature’s brain would be scattered throughout its body, considering the myriad wonders and boundless creativity of liches, Lyle kept silent.
What truly captivated Lyle was the pair of Vilimloth Claws, their craftsmanship far superior to that of the Spinal Giant Wheel. The real weapons, actually inspired by Nia, consisted of transformable inner flesh and a hard exoskeleton. Particularly after they were filled entirely with Nia’s "flesh," they unexpectedly possessed a certain soul conductivity.
That was an extra surprise indeed.
What Lyle was genuinely interested in now was its transformational capability, like having an extra set of limbs. He controlled the two bone claws to wave and transform into a series of giant weapons.
They even transformed into two huge bone-formed syringes, perhaps to be combined with my plague ability. Lyle discarded the absurd thought in his mind. What need is there for injecting plague with such large syringes, they could kill a person just by poking.
Lyle gave Ms. Fema Black Abyss an OK gesture with the Vilimloth Claws and, amidst the increasingly heavy drumming, his breathing gradually became faint.
"Hellfire invitation tournament, begin!"
Accompanied by Bigby’s sky-piercing shriek.
The Spinal Giant Wheel, supported by the giant bone claws spinning high in the air at high speed, finally embraced the caress of the earth’s affectionate friction and left a fierce crack on the ground.
The hurricane, with its speed engaged, howled through the entire lounge, and the massive bone wheel, like a roaring cannonball, slammed ferociously into the Hell Portal, as flimsy as tissue paper.
Lyle always had a question in his mind.
That was whether the portal would get stuck, he roughly estimated that the diameter of the Spinal Giant Wheel seemed to be slightly larger than the portal. What if it gets stuck, how embarrassing.
This question remained unanswered; while Lyle was still tangled in thought, the two Vilimloth Claws had already reached into the edges of the portal, seizing the Red Hoop Door Frame, and tore it fiercely apart.
Boom!
The Spine Wheel, carrying fragments of the fragile spatial rift like pieces of paper, arrived in another dimension.
The sky was dark, an opaque and filthy black. In the sulfuric haze, you could not even be sure whether the blackness was clouds or a ceiling. Anyway, watch your steps below.
After crossing through the portal, the Spine Wheel flew through the air for about a second and glided for more than twenty meters before hitting the deep black barren land like a depth charge.
The soil of the Hell Plane cracked instantly under the colossal force, far from as hard as it appeared on the surface. It was like a shoddy scammer, quickly revealing its malice.
The red magma erupted like waves crashing against rocks, and burning soil fragments were blasted by the explosion, striking the Spinal Giant Wheel’s bones and flesh like bullets. Fortunately, the Spinal Giant Wheel was moving fast enough to spare Lyle a second scouring by the boiling lava.
The Spine Wheel moved at high speed, and behind it, the fragile land instantly shattered, and the exploding magma was sprayed into the air and fell like rain. It was as if a giant dinner knife had cut open the shell of a hellish soft-boiled egg, letting the scorching liquid flow out and form a lake of lava. This place, where even hope would burn up, was gradually expanding with Lyle’s movement.
Is this hell? Lyle couldn’t help but feel a shiver of fear, realizing that if he had been a bit slower, he would have been gone.
It was practically like running through a minefield, but thankfully the equipment was advanced.
Lyle, speeding ahead, was followed by explosions and trailing flames, but he did not notice the huge bat wings flapping in the sky. It was a Doomguard, circling in the dust below, holding a special device and transmitting a live broadcast.
The sights of the Hell Plane were projected onto the giant silver screen rising in the center of the Black Abyss Arena.
Though called a silver screen, in reality it was a type of leather, a vast expanse stretched and supported by four Hell’s Nails, perfectly displaying the scenes of Lyle causing destruction in hell.
"Oh, bad news, the starting point of Mr. Plague Doctor, the Child of the Fallen, is right above a layer of active molten crust, one of the deadliest terrains for our Demon Race. Let’s hope the little demon babies still remember our nursery rhyme..."
[The Little Dwarf Demons scout ahead, laughing at the fireworks in delight.]
"Even though my own race is included among those Little Dwarf Demons..." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Then, as if something deep inside him had been touched, Bigby, despite the Demon guards’ attempt to stop him, loudly cursed the bad habits of the Demon Race on the broadcast.
The Liches remained calm, utterly unconcerned with the fate of the Demon Race, only finding the noise from watching the match too loud.
"What’s wrong with that Little Dwarf Demon?" Shiny didn’t stop his work, but the noisy interference made it hard for him to concentrate.
"Leveraging the historical advantages of their race to gain more rewards," the reporter shrugged, eyes fixed on the Necromancer Figure Club members tinkering with something. "Something like that. I’ve heard there’s a political movement lately amongst the Demon Race called ’dwarf lives are precious’, appealing to societal sympathy by leveraging their disadvantages."
"And the result?"
"The Demon Race doesn’t care. They kill more of their own kind than the inferior demons do, and the reproduction rate of the inferior demon species is like that of rats—unstoppable. I’ve heard that because of this movement, many in the Demon Race have shifted the harm done to their own kind onto the Little Dwarf Demons."
"It’s a win-win, really. The Little Dwarf Demons gain social attention and a new sense of self-worth, while the Demon Race addresses its population issue."
Not continuing that uninteresting topic, the Gentleman pointed to the circular device the size of a roulette wheel, expressing his doubts.
"This is the device you and Delusion designed."
"Yes."
The Gentleman turned his head, looking at Mr. Delusion.
"So, you actually managed to create a so-called mechanical soul? As far as I know, the ability to reshape souls and alter personalities are the skills of a Soulology master. How did you do it, Delusion?"
"I didn’t do it, it was to trick the Plague Doctor. I did connect some control modules on the Spinal Giant Wheel that compensated for the electronic beams, but creating mechanical intelligence is impossible in this era. To make a mechanical soul is pure fantasy."
"Then what is this device for?"
"Those control modules are for output," Shiny patted the circular device. "This is for input."
"We made a remote control."
"A remote control for Plague Doctor’s Spine Wheel."
