Chapter 320: Easter Egg - Tiny Wish
In the City of Wandering, each time this period comes around, a grand festival, the Peace Festival, takes place.
Rumor has it that in the City of Wandering, there’s a rampant Demon of Light who, regardless of race or creed, ravages the city’s residents, sparing not even the law enforcers. Citizens with even the cracks of their backsides dyed gold suffer a double whammy physically and psychologically. While such incidents are rare, every victim questions their life and endures humiliation.
However, today and for the next three days, the demons of the City of Wandering will vanish for a while. No one suffers, no one is tormented, and the citizens are as joyful as if celebrating the New Year. Thus, the Peace Festival has become a statutory holiday in the City of Wandering, a day for residents to comfort and bless one another.
"Got all that?"
The cutie in front of you reminds you, with breaths that even appear pink in your eyes coming from those tempting lips.
Skin as fair as milk, chestnut brown fluffy curly hair, a petite frame, and the serious cuteness and innocence lingering on a childlike face.
Candy tapped your forehead, breaking your daze, which had been fixed on his snow-white collarbones.
It’s a boy, so it’s okay to look, what’s with this guilt?!
You are the new cleaner at Bloody Rose Bar, taking charge of cleaning duties after the previous Mr. William switched jobs to become a law enforcer.
On the day of the Peace Festival, Succubus Candy, who always takes care of you, sought your help.
You shake your head.
"I didn’t catch that."
Because of his annoyance, Candy’s cheeks puff up like a squirrel’s, and after a couple of attempts, he lets out a sigh. He unconsciously puts on a pitiful expression.
"Then I’ll say it one more time, make sure you remember it, okay."
"There’s a custom during the Peace Festival, which is to give apples to your family and friends, expressing a ’peaceful’ blessing. And our Bloody Rose Bar also takes this opportunity to organize an event to build popularity. I need your help."
"What help?"
Upon receiving a satisfactory response, Candy’s smile became as sweet as an apple.
He twirled in place, showing off his new outfit, and that’s when you noticed his change of clothes. Under his adorable pumpkin pants were a pair of delicate, young legs, flawless, with knees blushingly white. His upper body was dressed in matching white clothes and lacy frills, and around Candy’s neck was a cape with a hood, the velvet piece biting into his soft hair like a wide-open mouth.
Little Yellow Cap, that’s the overall image you came upon. (Referring to Little Red Riding Hood)
Cute and innocent co-existed, childlike and alluring in one... a boy.
"To embody the spirit of the festival, we dress in specific costumes to role-play. I’m the citizen bullied by the Demon of Light..."
Candy handed you a piece of lightweight yellow paper armor with gold dust, pretending to be armor.
"You’re going to be the Demon of Light."
A game of chase, the kind with a little "he he he" if caught?
"We’ll also journey together in these costumes to purchase apples, distributing them to those in need. The process will be quite tedious, so I hope you can bear with it for a while."
You quickly donned the paper armor, which was not a great fit. Soon enough, you noticed something odd.
You pointed at your chest, where there were two extra pockets.
"What are these for?"
Upon hearing your question, Candy burst out laughing, covering his flushed face.
"Well... the role of the Demon of Light used to be played by Sister Anna, but now she’s gone on a date with Brother-in-law William, so, I hope you can understand."
You fell silent as the two pockets designed for extra padding swayed chaotically in the wind.
"Um..." seeing your helplessness, Candy said, "If it hinders your movements, do you want, maybe, to stuff a couple of apples in there to balance it out?"
You declined Candy’s suggestion. Even with the full-coverage helmet, you didn’t fancy walking around padded with two embarrassing apples. So off you went with a pair of lively faux chest muscles and Candy to start your journey.
Today, the City of Wandering is filled with the sour stench of love and apples.
You slowly understood why Candy needed company; everyone on the streets was paired up, and walking alone would have looked odd no matter what.
With someone by your side, the discomfort in your heart lessens a lot, and you even start feeling a bit buoyant. That’s because those stunned by Candy’s adorable appearance cast envious glances at you, only to be dealt with by their partners. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
And some fortunate ones avoided punishment, as their partners also looked at Candy with affection.
Cuteness is justice.
Perhaps it was in playing the role, or maybe it was just his nature, but Candy bounded along, his pumpkin pants floating like a carefree jellyfish.
"Keep up, okay."
You immediately ran to catch up. "Candy, you look so beautiful today."
Perhaps accustomed to being treated as a female, Candy merely smiled.
"Other than the Demon Race, everyone is really nice to me." It seemed Candy had become a social butterfly.
Past the Crystal Corridor, you arrived at the transport circle in Dark Zone 10, where Candy pinned a leaf-shaped badge onto your paper armor.
"Our first mission is to get apples, lots of apples. Bloody Rose Bar has business dealings with the Elven Druid in Light Five District, and we’re heading there now to collect our apples."
