Abandoned Omega: Wanted by the Bigshots in the Military Academy
Chapter 62: Sharing the Favor
Miles Sherman was expressionless.
He seemed to be completely fine.
’It’s good that I don’t have to explain.’ She had helped Miles Sherman before, and seeing him now, the state of his spirit sea wasn’t severe at all. The soothing process was over even faster than it had been for Chase Shaw.
She let go, wrapped the blanket around herself, and stood before Erin Xavier. "Give me your hand."
Erin Xavier extended his hand, then added a warning, "Soothe us one at a time. I’m warning you, don’t try anything funny."
"Don’t hold one person’s hand while you’re soothing someone else."
Zoe Pierce struggled to keep a smile on her face. ’The man before me is my patron; he just sent me a huge sum of money yesterday. Don’t get angry, don’t get angry...’
As a result, Zoe Pierce conducted the entire soothing with barely the tip of her finger touching Erin Xavier.
For some reason, Erin Xavier found himself getting inexplicably angry again.
But saying it out loud would make him seem utterly unreasonable.
He could only sulk, arms crossed, as he watched Zoe Pierce walk over to Nathan Lockwood.
Before Zoe Pierce could even speak, Nathan Lockwood said calmly, "Sit down and rest for a while."
She wanted to say she wasn’t tired, but Nathan Lockwood had already cleared a spot for her to sit. He didn’t speak, just watched her.
It was his own unique way of getting people to do what he wanted.
’Classic Nathan Lockwood.’
Zoe Pierce sat down. When she looked up, Nathan Lockwood had already extended his hand.
With Nathan Lockwood’s cooperation, Zoe Pierce placed her hand on his, and the process went quickly.
After she was done, Zoe Pierce was just about to completely relax and find a place to curl up and sleep when she suddenly heard Chase Shaw say, "You should check your barrier patch."
She jolted upright. Chase Shaw glanced at her. "I can’t smell anything, but you’ve been in the rain all day. You should see if you need to change it."
Just to be safe.
"Let me see," Nathan Lockwood cut in.
It was most appropriate for him to be the one to do it. After all, he was the ’doctor.’
Zoe Pierce turned slightly, lifting her hair to give Nathan Lockwood a look.
"It’s fine." He paused. "But if you’re worried, you can go ahead and change it."
’The last time her barrier patch broke was a one-in-ten-thousand fluke.’ Zoe Pierce had looked it up on the Intelligent Brain: barrier patches and suppression patches were designed to block pheromones. They all underwent rigorous testing before leaving the factory, making the probability of damage close to zero.
’That was just a freak accident.’
Zoe Pierce couldn’t be bothered. More importantly, if she ripped it off, she had no idea if her pheromone concentration would spike again, or if her scent would grow stronger.
And everyone here was an Alpha.
Because of the time Chase Shaw had caught her scent, she had become much more aware that Alphas shouldn’t be smelling her Omega pheromones.
So, after hearing Nathan Lockwood say it was fine, she decided against changing it. She just pulled the small blanket tighter around herself, leaned against a nearby support, and dozed off.
She hadn’t said a word, but after the day she’d had, she was utterly exhausted.
Now, in a place where she felt completely safe, the warmth of the fire and the white noise of the rain lulled her into a deep drowsiness.
The inky night finally fell completely silent.
The audience watching the broadcast couldn’t help but exclaim at how exciting it was.
"It’s no surprise the S-Class Alpha from the First Military Academy lost. It was like a Remote Mage running into a warrior and an assassin with maxed-out Magic Resistance. The fact that he held on for so long is already impressive."
"Two S-Class Alphas took out six people. How is anyone supposed to fight that? It’s an impossible matchup."
"Is no one going to praise our Baby Zoe? She’s so strong! She hasn’t complained once, and she was even thoughtful enough to remember to soothe her teammates’ spirit seas."
"Sob, sob, I’m literally about to cry. The stupid camera was only filming Miles Sherman. When they pulled her up just now, she looked so pathetic."
Some people even felt like Miles Sherman was abusing an Omega! How could anyone let such a delicate Omega stay in an environment like this?
They should be doing what Victor Vance and his team did, gathering all the Omegas together to protect them.
Of course, Miles Sherman and the others had no idea what a huge impact Zoe Pierce was having on the livestream audience. Nearly every other Omega on camera was cozied up in a comfortable spot, eating hot food, or chatting leisurely with others.
The contrast made Zoe Pierce stand out starkly.
Initially, everyone had tuned into the stream for Miles Sherman. But once they were watching, they discovered Zoe Pierce’s ridiculously sharp intuition and couldn’t help but turn their attention to her.
They watched her take on another Omega, then saw her stick close to Miles Sherman, trying her hardest not to hold him back.
A certain feeling kept pulling them in, and their focus gradually shifted to Zoe Pierce.
Then they watched her and Miles Sherman’s desperate sprint through the rainy night, pursued by Victor Vance’s team. The tension was stretched to its breaking point—it was thrilling and nerve-wracking, and they were terrified she would be caught and eliminated.
This feeling continued to build until Miles Sherman gave her his instructions, at which point their gazes shifted back to him.
Then, for a short while, the thrilling battle made them forget all about Zoe Pierce.
The emotional climax came when Erin Xavier asked about Zoe Pierce, because the audience felt a pang of guilt for having forgotten about her themselves.
Then, two camera drones locked onto Zoe Pierce from different angles.
One captured her pathetic, shivering form, huddled against the cold. The other captured the way she tried to force her eyes and mouth into a smile.
The young woman’s large eyes shone with a clear light even in the darkness. Strands of hair clung to her cheeks, still dripping water...
The high-definition drone cameras even let them see Zoe Pierce’s trembling lips.
No wonder the moment Nathan Lockwood saw her, he swept Zoe Pierce into his arms and sprinted for the supply point.
Their protectiveness over Zoe Pierce reached its peak.
Especially when they heard Chase Shaw ask Zoe if she had any awareness as an Omega. They were angry at his accusatory tone, yet they also felt he had a point.
Now, seeing her sleeping peacefully wrapped in a blanket, the tightness in their chests finally eased. Thank goodness she seemed to be okay.
"Good heavens, were they watching *The Omega’s Grand Adventure* or something?"
It all ended in a collective sigh.
They could only hope it wouldn’t be raining in the morning. Otherwise, she would have to suffer all over again.
「The next morning」 The air was fresh. Although the ground was still soaked, the nascent sun had already appeared, bringing with it a pleasant warmth.
The rain had continued until midnight before finally stopping.
Zoe Pierce was sleeping in a corner away from the light, so she didn’t feel the sun and remained fast asleep.
She only startled awake when she sensed someone approaching.
A large hand hovered in the air, not yet having touched her forehead. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
She opened her eyes, made a fist, and rubbed their corners. "Good morning," she said to the person before her.
The warm, large hand landed on her forehead anyway, then quickly pulled away. "Morning."
"Sorry, I was worried you might have a fever." She had been sleeping so deeply, it was hard not to worry, which was why he had taken the liberty of touching her forehead.
