A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners - Chapter 80: Outpouring
Rebecca returned not long after, still with her car, it was unknown where she went, probably shopping or something.
When she got out of her car, she moved the car to her Storage Ring.
Her eyes briefly flashed with sharpness toward Edward before turning to Oliver with a soft smile. š³šššššššš ššš.š°š š¦
"Sorry, Oliver, I had to bring Edward along. His family happens to oversee some of our business in Southeast Asia, and he has connections there. With him, things will go much smoother. Heās happy to help you," Rebecca said.
Hearing that, Oliver couldnāt help but turn to Edward.
"Thank you, Edward."
Edward chuckled and replied, "Iāve been to Southeast Asia over fifty times, even lived there for a while. Donāt worry, you can leave everything to me. Iām helping you sincerely, without expecting anything in returnāunlike certain people."
His tone was cheerful, but the jab at Rebecca was painfully obvious, making her knit her brows.
Still, Rebecca clearly didnāt want to start an argument here. She kept her smile in front of Oliver.
"Come on, the jetās ready!"
She led the way, with Oliver and Edward following behind.
They didnāt go through the public gates but used a VIP route that only a few could accessāand even among that crowd, they stood out the most.
Oliver might not have the aura of the ultra-wealthy, but he was strikingly attractive, while Edward and Rebecca were the unmistakable third-generation heirs of super-wealthy families. Coupled with their captivating looks, it was hard not to draw admiration from others.
It wasnāt long before they arrived in front of Rebeccaās jetāa long, sleek white private jet, larger than most, and with a sturdier, almost military feel to it.
Its door was already open, and a middle-aged man in a pilotās uniform stood beside the stairs.
He greeted Rebecca with a noble-servant-like bow before warmly welcoming Oliver and Edward.
Oliver followed Rebecca into the cabin, which was surprisingly spacious with only six luxurious seatsāeach equipped with an automatic massage system.
The jet seemed divided into three sections: the cockpit, the central lounge where they were now, and another area at the back that looked like a bedroom.
It even had full amenitiesāa fridge, and a large TV complete with a game console.
"Oliver, in this jet, you donāt even need a seatbelt. It has its own gravity system, so no matter how it moves, nothing inside will be affected," Edward explained.
He looked genuinely excited, as if even he didnāt own something like this.
The pilot was the last to board. He closed the door before heading to the cockpit, not bothering with safety instructionsāclearly unnecessary for this kind of aircraft.
Soon, the engines came to life, but there wasnāt the slightest vibration. Oliver could barely hear the faint hum.
"Oliver, how about we go to the back?" Rebecca suddenly suggested, making both Oliver and Edward freeze.
Oliver couldnāt help but give her a strange look, thinking she was being bold.
If Edward werenāt here, it might not have been a problem. Of course, with him present, going back there was practically pointless.
Still, anything could happen in three hoursāeven with Edward separated from them by just one door.
It was a tempting proposition, but Oliver shook his head.
"I think Iāll just stay here," he said, taking a seat.
Edward was helping him out of genuine goodwillāhow could he have the heart to leave him behind with his former fiancĆ©e?
Seeing him refuse, Edward laughed.
"My dear cousin Rebecca, if you really want to do something, hereās fine. After all, Iām just your cousināI can close my eyes to whatever you two want to do," he said casually before sitting next to Oliver.
Rebecca, however, didnāt seem the least bit flustered.
She calmly took a seat in front of them, producing a chilled bottle of wine that looked freshly purchased.
But she only brought out two cupsāone for herself and one for Oliver.
She poured wine into both.
"I guess itās fine if I drink straight from the bottle," Edward said, grabbing it and taking a swig directly.
And then, something shocking happened.
Edward suddenly went limp, his body heavy with drowsiness.
In just one second, his eyes shut, and he was fast asleep.
Oliverās mouth opened, then closed. "Surprised" was far too mild for what he was feeling.
"This is why we shouldnāt let our blood run too hot, or we can fall into an enemyās trap so easily," Rebecca said calmly.
After that, she put away the two untouched wine cups, then brought out two new ones and a fresh bottle of wine.
She refilled them.
"Donāt worry. Youāre just a manifestation. Poisons donāt work on a body thatās merely a construct made from World of Shadows energy," Rebecca said.
"I have to say, youāve broadened my horizons quite a bit," Oliver replied.
"Iām not like Edward. His family are straightforward people who dislike hypocrisy, and he went to school surrounded by people like that. Even when he had to live abroad, it was in Southeast Asia. Sure, the people there can be ruthless and cruel, but theyāre not used to underhanded tricks or scheming.
But in my family, itās full of people who will do anything for their own gain. My mother, for example, always finds ways to control my fatherās wealth for herself. And my two siblings? Theyāre constantly plotting how to get rid of the others for a bigger share. We grew up in completely different worlds."
"Is this a kind of outpouring?" Oliver asked.
He wasnāt used to hearing Rebecca talk like this, so he felt the need to lighten the mood.
"Maybe. But I think I just want to be more honest. Edward probably told you something bad about meālike Iād only try to use you. But we both know youāre not a man whoās easy to take advantage of.
Yes, I do want to benefit from you, but what I have in mind is a mutually beneficial partnershipāor friendship," Rebecca said.
