Chapter 2491: Chapter 1666: Filming Begins (From Rolling Evolves into Curling Up and Rolling Cat) _2

Duanmu Huai lowered his head, the cold red light flickering within his helmet, then he stared intently at the special effects actor on the ground, before leaping down from the high altitude!

"Boom!!"

Under everyone’s watchful eyes, Duanmu Huai crashed into the ground like a cannonball, causing the entire surface to sink and crack. Even the staff standing not far away felt the ground tremble. They stood there in a daze, feeling the unparalleled, terrifying killing intent, and then they saw Duanmu Huai stand up...

"Aaaahhh!!"

At that moment, the actors suddenly let out screams and turned to run!

"CUT!!"

Director Qing Shui saw this and hurriedly called to stop. The staff quickly moved forward to stop the special effects actors who were running around like headless chickens.

"What are you doing? According to the script, you should be rushing forward at this moment!"

In the script, this was the moment when the monsters discovered Duanmu Huai, so they rushed forward to fight him, giving the protagonist and the female lead a chance to escape.

But you all ran away?

If you all run, then there’s nothing to act for! Isn’t the protagonist supposed to end up dead if that’s the case?

On a film set, the director’s authority is the highest. Director Qing Shui gave the group of special effects actors an earful, and the latter were also frightened stiff, only regaining their senses with trembling hesitations.

"But, but director, we really thought we would die..."

"This is filming, it’s not real!"

Hearing the special effects actors’ response, Director Qing Shui was also helpless. However, he had collaborated with Duanmu Huai more than once and knew that Duanmu Huai’s imposing aura was indeed not something an ordinary person could withstand. Actually, during past horror films, it wasn’t that the protagonists acted well; sometimes they were genuinely scared and screamed because of Duanmu Huai.

Those were genuine emotions.

But while horror films can afford such screams, you can’t do that in a sci-fi film!

"Let’s try it again!"

Of course, this time Duanmu Huai wouldn’t jump off a wall again, but instead, the scene would start directly from Duanmu Huai landing, followed by the special effects actors charging towards him to start the shot.

Actually, this scene should be quite simple in theory, because the special effects actors didn’t need to perform much; they just needed to pretend to run forward. CGI would later modify them into monsters. But even like this, facing Duanmu Huai standing there motionless, these special effects actors found it hard to truly let go and run forward.

According to them, it felt like they would be smashed into a pulp by the hammer in his hands the next moment if they charged forward.

The director truly understood this, so...

"Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it over time."

Thus, this scene was reshot time and time again, so much so that it instilled fear in the onlookers.

"Isn’t this considered bullying on set?"

Watching the director call for another retake for the twenty-seventh time, Arima Kaname was trembling all over, and Hei Chuan Chi Yin’s expression was also quite complex.

"It shouldn’t be, right? It’s just that they’re afraid to run forward..."

"Honestly, if I had to approach someone like Xiao Ai, I’d be scared too."

Looking at Duanmu Huai standing like a cold robot, Arima Kaname couldn’t help but shudder.

"We don’t have to face off against Xiao Ai in any scenes, right?"

"Actually, there’s a chase scene, and later, we supposedly die, but it’s not directly shown."

"That’s good."

Arima Kaname let out a sigh of relief.

"I can definitely act out fleeing for my life."

"I think that wouldn’t need acting at all."

Hei Chuan Chi Yin quietly complained.

After this, Director Qing Shui asked Duanmu Huai to tone it down repeatedly, but even so, it wasn’t until the fifty-eighth take that they finally passed.

When the director announced the completion of the scene, the special effects actors slumped to the ground, drenched in sweat as though they’d been fished out of water...

In contrast, Duanmu Huai... well, he was unfazed. After all, he hadn’t really done much; just stood there after jumping down, with no lines, so it was very easy for him.

Or rather, throughout the whole movie, Duanmu Huai had it quite easy.

Most of the time, he didn’t even need to speak. Only in the protagonist’s flashbacks would he shout "big brother" once or twice. Throughout the movie, Duanmu Huai only appeared four times — the first was earlier, when the protagonist and female lead were surrounded and he appeared to slay monsters. Then there was the second time when the male and female leads, along with a team, went into the city to gather supplies, where they narrowly crossed paths with Duanmu Huai, avoiding a disaster.

The third was a mishap where Duanmu Huai followed them to the camp and went on a rampage, where Arima Kaname and Hei Chuan Chi Yin’s characters died in that scene. Lastly, the protagonist devised a way to lure Duanmu Huai out of the camp, saving the rest.

The final scene has the male and female leads going to a research facility for clues and the truth, only to be chased by Duanmu Huai. Then the monster boss appears, Duanmu Huai chooses to eliminate the monster, and the male and female leads activate the base’s self-destruct button, blowing Duanmu Huai, the monster boss, and the entire base to smithereens.

His scenes were few, and Duanmu Huai was quite satisfied, akin to how the Tyrant’s appearances in "Biochemical Crisis" were few but terrifying for players.

That’s the desired effect.

Of course, whether he died at the end was left as a cliffhanger, for if the box office went well, there might be a sequel.

Director Qing Shui had already thought it out — when filming the ending, they’d shoot the ruins of the research facility, then with a "crash," something seemed about to emerge from the debris, ending it there.

Thus leaving it to the audience to ponder whether Duanmu Huai was still alive.

This time Director Qing Shui was shooting in segments, as locking down the city was too cumbersome. So, he decided to finish all city scenes first, then the survivor camp, and lastly the research facility. Since Duanmu Huai had the fewest scenes, they were shot first.

Therefore, while others were busy filming, Duanmu Huai, having completed his tasks, could now slack off a bit.

"Hmm, indeed, it’s more comfortable wearing this."

Wearing armor, Duanmu Huai wandered the streets. This place was an abandoned area near the suburbs of Kyoto, and was currently the film crew’s location. Most people were busy shooting, but having finished his previous scenes, and the scenes where he narrowly missed the male and female leads, Duanmu Huai had nothing pressing to do for now.

At least he had a few days to relax.

With nothing else to do, maybe a hot spring would be nice?

"————————!"

Just as Duanmu Huai pondered how to enjoy these few slacking days, suddenly, he felt his Sharp Blade vibrate fiercely, as if sensing something!

Encountering trouble again?

Feeling the vibration of the Blood Blade, Duanmu Huai paused, knowing that previously, its tremors meant the presence of an Evil Spirit. Could it be the same this time? Meaning in Kyoto, he could still encounter Evil Spirits?

Well, since he was free anyway, and besides...

Duanmu Huai looked down at his armor.

Wearing this, how could he not perform well? Otherwise, wouldn’t wearing this armor be pointless? Even though it wasn’t Power Armor, it was a real armor crafted by artisans at Duanmu Huai’s one-to-one specification!

Let the Evil Spirits truly feel what the fear from the Tribunal means! Let them cry, scream, and then die!

With that thought, Duanmu Huai picked up his phone, sent a message to the director asking for a leave, then he left the film crew, found a secluded spot, drew out his Longsword, and gripped it tight.

And then...

"Dong—————!"

Along with the crisp sound of a shamisen string resonating in Duanmu Huai’s ear, suddenly, a paper door opened beneath his feet, and in the next moment, Duanmu Huai fell straight into the paper door!
