70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman
Chapter 530: Big Brother’s Wedding (Part 2)
Watching the little guy entrusted with a heavy responsibility being so serious, Xu Mumu almost burst out laughing. The little guy puffed out his chest, blocking her behind him, observing the surroundings as if a bad person could show up at any moment.
Once Xu Minglei brought over the candies, the little guy visibly sighed in relief. Xu Mumu laughed outright; how could her little brother be so amusing?
"Sister, why are you laughing?" The little guy peeled a piece of candy and popped it into his mouth, looking at his sister with confusion.
"Oh, it’s nothing. I just think our Fengfeng is really impressive." Xu Mumu ruffled the little one’s hair, which had grown a bit long but felt soft and not prickly at all.
"Of course, I’m the best, even better than Big Brother and Second Brother." The little guy said more proudly.
"Hmph, you little brat, what makes you think you can compete with me and Big Brother?" Xu Minglei gave his younger brother a disdainful look. Apart from monopolizing their sister’s attention, their youngest brother was also quite mischievous, which often gave them headaches.
If it weren’t for the fact that it was his own brother, he definitely wouldn’t want to play with him.
"Sister said I’m the best," the little guy retorted, dissatisfied, looking at his second brother.
"That’s what you said yourself."
The two brothers bickered while Xu Mumu sat watching calmly, not intervening. As long as they weren’t fighting or making the little one cry, she didn’t want to interfere too much.
Xu Mumu and the others hadn’t been sitting there long when their relatives from the hometown arrived, coming over to chat with them. They didn’t know many people in this area, and Li Caixia and the others were busy and didn’t have much time to accompany them.
Xu Mumu also met Su Xiu’s two children who were slightly older than Fengfeng. Both children were a bit shy; there were a lot of people around, so they stayed obediently by their parents’ side.
As more people gathered, Xu Jiaojiao and the others also came over, looking delighted to see Xu Mumu.
As the atmosphere became lively, the little brother didn’t run off; being familiar with his siblings, he’d pull them along to play.
Although Xu Mumu’s grandfather seemed a bit reserved, as they chatted, they felt better. A few aunts noticed that Xu Mumu’s belly was protruding and started sharing their experiences of childbirth with her.
Curious about the bride’s family, they also asked Xu Mumu, who, of course, knew all about these things.
Xu Mumu didn’t hide anything, openly sharing what she knew.
The little room was filled with many people, and the time spent chatting passed quickly. Before long, the wedding party arrived, and Xu Mumu, watching the newlyweds being surrounded, smiled. Her brother was finally getting married.
Seeing her brother with a silly grin and the bride’s shy, excited expression, the couple looked perfect together.
With the arrival of the newlyweds, the atmosphere hit a peak. This was Xu Minghui’s moment, not held at their home. After telling Jiang Family’s relatives to sit down, he checked the time and began ordering the dishes to be served.
Yin Yang sat with Xu Mumu and the others in a corner. Huo Qingze was also seated here. Xu Mumu brought over her two younger brothers. Besides Huo Qingze, the table was shared with the captain’s family, including Zhao Qing.
Seeing Xu Mumu looking over at him, Zhao Qing smiled back. She already had children, and although he’d moved on, he still hadn’t found anyone suitable; his mother had even tried matchmaking for him several times, but nothing felt right.
"Qing, long time no see." Xu Mumu greeted Zhao Qing with a smile. The little brother was seated by Yin Yang to prevent him from disturbing Xu Mumu.
"Yeah, it’s been a while, but all your doings in this area are still making waves," Zhao Qing chuckled. Compared to Xu Mumu and the others, he was still in school. They had graduated early and made a big stir back home, making this place better.
He had thought about improving his hometown but felt he didn’t have the capability.
"Those are just rumors," Xu Mumu responded, embarrassed, with a smile.
"You young people are way too modest. Folks from other brigades envy our area," Mr. Zhao said with a cheerful grin, feeling satisfied about how the area had completely developed, receiving several commendations from higher-ups.
"Mr. Zhao, you’re too kind. It’s what we should do. When we were sent down here, you took great care of us," Yin Yang calmly replied, still mindful of Zhao Qing’s previous affection for Xu Mumu.
Huo Qingze didn’t say much but occasionally added a word, keeping the ambiance lively.
While eating, Xu Mumu and the others enjoyed their meal. On the other hand, Xu Minghui, with Jiang Yuxiu and Li Caixia, began going from table to table toasting and introducing Jiang Yuxiu to everyone.
After a round, they soon came to their table. Xu Mumu couldn’t drink, and naturally, neither could her two younger brothers.
However, the little brother seemed tempted, watching the others pour wine and wanting his brother-in-law to pour some for him too.
"Yuxiu, this is my sister and brother-in-law, whom you know. This is Captain Zhao Uncle and his son Zhao Qing. This is Brother-in-law’s friend, Huo Qingze, the Educated Youth." Xu Minghui introduced everyone to Jiang Yuxiu.
Jiang Yuxiu greeted everyone. She had met Xu Mumu and her husband before, as well as Xu Minghui’s two younger brothers.
While she hadn’t met the others, Xu Minghui had spoken about Huo Qingze, highlighting his important role in the local development alongside Yin Yang.
After toasting, the couple moved on to other tables.
The captain’s wife, Zhao Qing’s mother, looked on enviously, seeing Xu Minghui married while her son remained single.
After making toasts, Jiang Yuxiu didn’t remember many people, but there were indeed many relatives in the Xu Family.
Once Xu Mumu had eaten her fill, Jiang Yuxiu and the others finished toasting and were finally able to eat in the private room.
Not wanting to disturb them, Xu Mumu asked Xu Minglei to speak to Li Caixia. Then, she and Yin Yang went for a walk to aid digestion.
"Sister, help me keep this." Outside the restaurant, Fengfeng handed Xu Mumu the red envelopes from his bag. He didn’t want his mom to keep the money, preferring his sister to hold onto it so he could ask her for it when he wanted to buy candy.
The little guy’s scheme was all but audible, looking expectantly at his sister.
"Okay, I’ll keep them for you and give them to Mom tonight," Xu Mumu laughed, putting away the two red envelopes from the little one’s bag.
"Don’t give them to Mom," the little guy protested anxiously upon hearing they’d be stored with Mom. He didn’t want to hand over the money to her, thinking she wouldn’t give it back.
