Chapter 85: New Epic-Grade Schema! Summoning Ghosts and Railguns
The fireball imbued with Annihilation that ended Fix came to life once again. It appeared in this narrow path between two points in full bloom, flooding the darkness with light.
Faust had the pleasure of seeing Negan’s whole body stiffen in shock before the flames consumed both of them.
They were ejected from the path as it collapsed, but the damage was already done.
Negan and Faust fell to the stone with terrible burns. Annihilation ignored their armor and durability and burnt them like they were mundane humans.
He felt the flesh cool and slowly knit itself together. Blood Regeneration was already working to heal Faust’s injuries. The agony made him black out again and again, but he would live.
However, Negan’s armor was too destroyed to self administer his healing potions. He had to reach into the burnt scraps of metal to retrieve a potion. His skin, now blackened, seemed purplish and hard like a carapace. His face surprisingly had eight eyes.
Why design armor with two eyes when you have eight?
Negan was ugly as as he sounded. His head was orb like and bald, and below his eight eyes was a mouth full of fangs and mandibles.
He looks like a horror movie villain.
Negan dragged the potion towards his mouth slowly, gasping and shuddering. If he healed then this fight would restart.
But Faust wasn’t focused on him.
"Nirvana... stop."
Her sword came to a halt inches from Negan’s neck. Her dark-blue hair fell in a curtain around her face, but the placid expression on her pale face was still visible.
"This is our chance," Nirvana whispered.
She had been waiting this entire time despite Faust telling her to go join the fourth wave’s fight. Her patience was incredible.
"He won’t accept defeat if you help me," Faust groaned. He pushed himself to his feet and she rushed to help. But he held out a hand. "He’ll say he was caught off guard by two humans. That he wouldn’t have lost."
Faust hobbled over to Negan as he poured the potion into his mouth. The glowing green liquid spilled over his face and neck sloppily.
"Because you don’t care about the fight," Faust said to Negan. "You only care about defending your race’s superiority."
Faust stopped beside him and raised his axe. Silver light bloomed around it as he used Flowing Viper. It intensified as Rage Strike fed it more strength.
"You were fun. But still a disappointment," Faust said mockingly. "When you get home, remember you only live because a mongrel system lets you."
Negan forced himself onto his elbows. Facing the ground, he screamed in defiance.
Faust brought the axe down on the back of his neck.
His head fell to the ground almost silently.
"Rise high, only for me to bring you low." Faust shook his head with a sigh, before turning to Nirvana. "May I have some of your blood?"
"Can I have yours?" Nirvana said calmly, she glanced from his burnt body to Negan’s headless body excitedly. "I’m not low on regeneration, you just taste really nice."
Faust shrugged. "That’s what she said."
Nirvana’s voice turned cold. "Who?"
"Nobody. Absolutely no one has ever said that to me."
[You have defeated Negan the Walker of Narrow Roads. Do you wish to permanently replicate his Schema?]
Faust grinned.
◇◇◇
Faust rejoined the Fourth wave late. The Novice Village was littered with the dead bodies of both monsters and men.
Unfortunately, they could barely protect the city, so they didn’t mount an invasion against the gate like the third wave1.
Faust was running across a street with Nirvana when a mole monster bored out of the ground. It would have been a good surprise attack if Faust didn’t have Pathfinder.
Yellow lines were drawn over the ground before the mole even sensed Faust’s approach, revealing its movement.
And once its head rose from the ground, mouth open and full of ripping teeth—Unyielding Axe slashed its head in half.
His mana was low so he didn’t bother using any skills. Even then, his strength was still more than enough. He had those Mana potions from the second wave rewards, but he was saving them.
This wave was almost over. From what he could see Old Dog had ordered them to just focus on protecting the safe zones.
He looked up as dark shapes soared over them. Void Eater bombs fell around Faust and Nirvana.
She transformed into a bat without a warning and flew between the gaps of the black orbs of stasis magic. Faust followed with Shadow Step. He was glad he didn’t need to warn her. He was still healing after all.
They arrived at the Southern safe zone and grimaced at the same time..
"That looks bad," Nirvana said slowly.
A pillar of golden light rose into the night sky over the safe zone. From its center, a dome of golden light fell over a large district, preventing monsters from getting in. But they surrounded the entire dome and bombarded it with attacks.
So the protectors had to come out and form a perimeter.
Faust got the idea. The vanguards fought with their backs to the golden dome, while mages struck from within the dome. All the while, healers worked on vanguards that retreated back into the dome.
It was smart in a way, but looked terribly demoralizing.
Monsters swarmed with a weak line of defenders. More and more people died. Others ran back into the dome refusing to go out again. Blood, fire and mud enveloped the golden dome. Like a single bead of light in a dark sea.
"How do we make a dent in that?" Nirvana asked
Some monsters were starting to approach them. Goblin riders and strange metal knights.
Nirvana raised her sword. Skeletons rose on the street around them from green smoke. They had been summoned before and put back into the ground for later. Nirvana had been working while she waited for Faust.
Silver ghosts in full armor floated around them too. Another ability he had to ask her about later. They raised their weapons—swords, polearms and hammers—languidly, groaning irritatingly.
In an instant, they had a small platoon of undead around them.
"I got an idea on how to make a dent in that," Faust revealed.
He replicated one of Fix’s attacks—the battle happened around thirty minutes ago, so he could still replicate it—then he sent the railgun attack into the Narrow Path.
The attack travelled through one of the longer paths, allowing his Distance-Damage Amplification to do it work.
When it came out Faust didn’t even see it.
BOOM!
