Chapter 49: Chaotic Battle, Chaining Flowing Viper With Rage Strike

The Kobold and Goblins attacked the human lines with cunning intensity. They pressed at certain points, waiting for the lines to break, then they rushed in with their fastest attackers. π•—π—Ώπ•–πžπ°π—²π•“π§π• π•§π—²π₯.πšŒπ¨πš–

A player turned in time to just see a goblin surging at him from behind. His eyes widened. By sacrificing a hand, he managed to stop the blade from tearing into his body. But the pain had him writhing on the ground as the goblin came closer to end him.

The raised dagger only got so far before the creature fell apart in two bisected halves.

The player grabbed his wound and squeezed to slow down the bleeding. Faust stepped over the goblin he just cut in half and looked down at the player. He would bleed out if Faust didn’t do anything.

I also want to try something with the healers...

Placing his silver glass axe over his shoulder, Faust picked the player up with one hand, along with the severed hand, and replicated his dash towards the backline.

It was always worth it to replicate a skill after using it; the process cost no mana and maximised value.

Within seconds, Faust dropped the bleeding player at the healers square tucked near the walls of the village. All the fighters protecting this healer squad tensed up immediately. They were all fast. Not enough to contest with a dashing Faust, but still some of the best fighters they had.

Rin couldn’t understand dedicating good fighters towards safeguarding rare assets like healers, but Diego listened to almost all of Faust’s suggestions.

The vanguards watched Faust carefully, but did nothing. This was a powerful player, likely in the top 100. They wouldn’t have much of a chance against him.

"Thank you!" One of the healers offered before dropping to her knees to heal the arm. Faust provided the severed arm so all they had to do was purify it to remove anything that wasn’t meant to be there and reattach then slowly heal the arm.

Instance Replication!

It failed?

Instance Replication!

With no injuries on himself, Faust had no use for the healing skill, but he was always testing his Replication abilities and how they worked. He replicated the healing passing from the healer to the severed limb, effectively doubling the healing mana in the arm.

His first replication was him trying to replicate the man healing, but that part of the injury was already healed so unless it was injured again the replication wouldn’t work. So he switched to replicating the infusion of healing.

With that curiosity sated, he returned to the battlefield. Ambushs were happening everywhere. Gobin broke the lines of shield bearing players and a quick monster slipped in and wreaked havoc on their backline support.

He leapt hard onto the wall to join a battle between two mages and three fighters. Steel clanged as the three fighters pressured the goblin with fast slashes and shield bashes. The mages behind them called for a retreat then released windblades.

SHING!

The air and the goblins were parted with a cry of deadly wind. Their bodies fell to the ground just as Faust landed. That was a waste of time, but only because these guys were good. The five players turned to him nervously, but he was searching for his next targets.

There.

A small group of level 4 Kobolds smashed through the frontline. People were flung backward as fire erupted from their strikes. Screams sounded as skin burnt.

A fire magic skill that works with weapons?

Faust appeared in front of them with Dash. They saw him coming though. High Spirit and Agility allowing them to form ranks. But their dog-like eyes widened with fear and caution.

[Small Kobold]

[Level: 4]

[Combat Power: 278]

[Details: Skilled with weapons and group combat. United by a Chief.]

Faust jumped and replicated his Dash at an angle. He slashed at a Kobold, beheading it in a flash. Once he hit the ground he activated his second Dash. But the Kobolds used their Dash too, retreating.

Faust’s axe slammed into the small round shield one of the Kobolds wields and bones cracked behind it. The other enemies came at him from three different directions. Faust grinned.

Acid Shot!

A cloud of vaporous acid erupted from the back of his head, temporarily blinding the Kobold behind him. Two attacks were blocked with his axe. Then he replicated Acid Shot in front of him.

While blinded he quickly cut down the two Kobolds, while more surrounded him.

This is getting fun.

CLANG! CLANG!

He batted attacks aside without much effort. But the Kobold were more about speed than strength. One of them got behind him and only his high Spirit stat warned him of the backstabbed.

Bolster!

Growth!

The dagger bounced out his travelling cloak like it was made of steel. While Kobold was stunned he reared back and slammed the butt of his axe into its skill. Blood and bone scattered.

But Faust found himself still surrounded by four more Kobolds all attacking at once. They were smart to leave no easy gaps. If he used Dash, he would be running through them.

Shadow Step.

He disappeared and reappeared behind one of the Kobolds before using Dash. The world blurred, but his motion was already preplanned by his fast-moving mind.

Four Kobolds fell to the ground, torn in half. Faust reappeared at the end of his devastating swing, twirling his axe to remove all the blood.

Some of the backliners stared at him with open disbelief, but to Faust this was just a normal occurrence. His Agility and Spirit attributes had been raised so much that working accurately at extreme speed was his default.

That was my thirteenth attack.

Two more attacks till Flowing Viper activated. He would chain it with the 50% boost of Rage Strike. But he needed the right enemy for that.

RUMBLE!

And it appeared, towering over all the Goblins and Kobolds.

A monstrous creature with boar tusk and a pale body lumbered across the battle field. Its face was like a flattened piece of ham, with a fold of flesh covering its eyes and nose. It wore a simple loincloth and carried a huge batter ram.

BOOM!

Each of its footsteps shook the world as it charged towards the wall.

[Troll]

[Level: 4]

[Combat Power: 602]

[Details: Giant, strong and incredibly stupid. Their skin is like steel, their regeneration is incredible, and their blows can shatter boulders, but they are slow.]
